Fiore Market Cafe 17.11.2020

I wrote a blog for months leading up to the opening of Fiore Market Cafe. Here is a post from 7 years. Anne and I found this piece in Torrance California. Her s...ister Clare suggested we whitewash it which Anne did. For the last 7 years it hosted all of her baked goods and continues today. Thanks for all your love and support. See more

Today I found some notes and blog posts that I wrote before we opened Fiore Market Cafe. I wasn't working at the time, but Anne and I were planning for our new adventure. It is funny to read 7 years later.

I grew up eating Irish soda bread fairly frequently. My grandmother was born in Ireland. She cooked and baked and Irish soda bread was one of those nice treats along with her cinnamon bread. My mom bakes the Irish soda bread throughout the year, but I only serve it on Saint Patrick's Day. This past Saint Patrick's Day I baked 6 loaves. They sold very quickly. They were easy and quick to make. Yesterday I made two more loaves. They turned out nice. I used the soda bread for an open face sandwich with mascrapone cheese, local honey and prosciutto.

Photographs of cinnamon bread from Wednesday morning. We sold it by the slice with a good spread of soft unsalted butter. I remember eating it like this as a kid.
