The ONE word that will sell anything!! (ok, maybe two) (no, it's not sh*t, although I do love me a good poop emoji) ... "I made this" reads "see what I created here; it's about me." "I made this for you" reads "here's something special and personal; it's all about you." The mistake many manufacturers make is trying to be all things to all people. **OR** Leading with 'we' instead of 'you.' #FeltFBomb When you have an infection but see no outward symptoms, doesn't mean you're immune from disruption. : Someone who is asymptomatic has the infection but no symptoms and will not develop them later. * * * * * * *... -We think we know what customers want, even though we haven't actually asked them recently -60% of our salespeople don't know how or are uncomfortable selling virtually, but we still haven't trained them -We don't have a content strategy and aren't sure what to talk about; social media is nice to have but not necessary -Our culture is a little toxic at times, but we don't think it affects our customers -We put a hold on #marketing waiting to see what happens with COVID while our closest competitor fearlessly pivots -Our website is covered in we-we, but it's about us, right?! -People already know why we're great; our differentiator is quality products, we're family-owned, and we're old -We're waiting for trade shows to resume even though we rarely get 50 highly qualified leads that turn into $$$ that we can measure * * * * * * * For manufacturers, disruption is a sneeze and a cough away. They've perused your website to see if you can solve their problem. Decided whether or not you're speaking their language. Understood WHY you do what you do. And, felt a level of trust that propels them to email or call you. If your website, brochure, catalog, app, email, and sales team can't answer these questions in about 5 seconds ('cause we all have the attention span of a gnat now)... Your competitors will!
