CARING DEPOT-LY: Not all of the refugees from the ruinous wildfires in California this fall were human. Many were animals, and those animals needed temporary ho...using just as much as their human counterparts. Tulare County’s Woodlake Rodeo Grounds and Porterville Fairgrounds were designated as sanctuary sites for both fire victims and their animals, and our Heiskell's Feed Depot store in Visalia, CA was quick to ride to the rescue of the rescued. We have donated close to $1,000 in products [to the sites] so far, wrote Feed Depot Manager Kayla Munoz on September 23. Some of our customers have donated alsoabout $500 in products that they bought from our store and contributed to the effort. Items donated included baled shavings, fly sprays, livestock feed, and pet food and supplies. In the photos are a truckload of baled shavings ready to head out, a pallet of various feed donations, and Kayla (left) with Tulare County Farm Bureau Executive Director Patricia Stever Blattler, who has oversight of all donations to the Woodlake Rodeo Grounds intake of animals.
