Flu shot trivia #2: I am protected from the flu right after I get the shot. FALSE: It takes about 2 weeks for our bodies to build up a team of immunity cells against the virus. This can be one of the reasons some gets sick right after they get the flu shot. They may have been exposed before their body has built up enough immunity. It’s recommended to get the flu shot earlier to give the body time to build up it’s immunity. Come get your flu shot tomorrow. Call us to make an an appointment for Tuesday! An inactivated virus means that it is not live or contagious and can NOT give something the flu.
