It's a common belief that alcohol dissipates out of your system rather quickly and that marijuana usually takes about a week to work its way out. We are seeing the opposite of this on a regular basis. We recently did a breath alcohol test on a gentleman who came in around noon. Dodgers went to the playoffs the night before and he was celebrating till about 2:00 am. Not a small guy either. His BAC after not drinking for 10 hours was at 0.078%. That's barely legal to drive. As to marijuana, the idea that it only takes 7 days and you should test clean is not accurate. We are seeing donors who have not smoked in over a month test positive. At this point we are advising 6-8 weeks between your last use and your test. Especially for habitual smokers. So be careful out there. You may not be as safe as you think you are!
