Marigolds, also known as Cempasputchitl flowers are commonly used for the day of the dead celebrations in Mexico. Did you know that this plant has been cultivated since ancient times? The Aztecs grew Cempasputchitl and other flowers in chinampas or "floating gardens" of xochimilco. Their vibrant color is said to represent the sun, which in Aztect mythology guides spirits.
