We are saddened to announce that we are saying goodbye to our Museum Director, Emil Guillermo, who is moving on to re-concentrate on his media profession. We enjoyed his pop-up videos of historical and current events and will miss his guidance. You can review his videos here on facebook or on our YouTube channel under FANHS Museum. A Note from your FANHS Museum Director Dear Supporters of the FANHS Museum: As you know, the Museum has been closed since the middle of March when the pandemic hit. We’ve been patiently waiting for things to get better. We’ve even been given the go-ahead to open, if we can do so safely. ... Unfortunately, after weeks of figuring out how to do that, the pandemic seems to be worsening in our country. Because of that, the Museum board has decided to keep the Museum closed until further notice out of an overabundance of caution. Our most important consideration is to make your next visit and our volunteers as safe as possible. Our board felt the risk was too great to put our guard down now. We will wait a little longer until we see a significant drop in cases around our state and throughout the country. But we’re staying busy. Recently, I spoke to the Delta Heritage Forum in Sacramento about the Museum. And we have expanded our digital efforts to make the Filipino American story accessible on-line. Our Live Facebook virtual popups remain popular, talking about subjects like the Filipino veterans of WWII, Larry Itliong and the Grape Strike, and the first Filipinos of 1587. We also had a successful Filipino American History Month finale, a webinar discussion on The Celine Archive, a new documentary on the family of a Filipina American buried alive in 1932 in California. See all the videos @ https://www.facebook.com/fanhsmuseum/live/ or on the FANHS Museum YouTube channel. And please let me know what topics you’d like us to explore. Contact me at [email protected] As you can see, despite being closed, we are dedicated to engaging with you on the Filipino American story. Please visit us online on Facebook@fanhsmuseum. Remember, we’re an all-volunteer organization. Consider helping us grow by joining our team or making a donation. You can do so on our website at fanhsmuseum.com/membership.html by clicking on the Donate button at the bottom of the page. Once again, thank you for your continued support. I’ll see you on Facebook with more stories about Filipino American history. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy. Mahalz and Salamatz, Emil Guillermo Museum Director
