We at Family House wanted to wish Okizu a very happy 40th anniversary! Founded by John Bell, Okizu's mission is to help all members of families affected by childhood cancer to heal through peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs.

Perfectly warm weather today in San Francisco made for a great Facebook Live Easter party in the courtyard, with Bobby the Easter Bunny! So glad so many of you could join us virtually. Danielle Rodriguez was just 13 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. She and her grandparents, whom she refers to as Mom and Dad, stayed at Family House while she received treatment at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals. On this day 5 years ago, the Family House staff moved into our new home at Mission Bay! The new house allowed us to have more room to house more families in need of a place to stay while receiving treatment at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, and we've continued making memories ever since. #40YearsofFHSF

Cannon Awards were begun as part of Social Work Month to honor medical center colleagues for their meritorious service consistent with core human and social work values as outlined in the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers. This is the 12th Annual Ida M Cannon award ceremony held by the Pediatric Social Work department at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals in San Francisco. These core values are service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence; each award was named after a distinguished social worker, both in the nation and at UCSF.
