During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is NOT absolutely necessary to discontinue contact lens wear during this time as long as you practice good contact lens hygiene (i.e. don't sleep, swim, shower or overwear your contacts) always thoroughly wash with soap and dry your hands before touching your eyes or your contacts, and practice social distancing. For extra protection you can wear sunglasses or goggles over your contacts, although for complete protection you would need to wear goggles that completely seal around your eyes. Use your common sense. If you do experience a red, irritated eye, abnormal blurry vision or other sudden symptoms then discontinue contact lens wear immediately and see an eye doctor.
