Executive House in Santa Clara

Brian Didier, property manager for the Executive House Home Owners Association, writes: Next week on Thursday 1 August, a new law goes into effect around Santa Clara -- you've probably already heard about it, seen headlines or read articles since the City Council passed it six months ago. Essentially, no smoking will be allowed in or near multi-unit residential buildings like ours. This new law matches laws that already exist in multiple cities around the Bay Area, as well a...s the nation. It means if you or guests want to smoke (anything, including vaping, including medical marijuana), you must go to the sidewalk in front of the building, or across the street. NO SMOKING applies anywhere within the property lines of Executive House Association -- even the garage. Please read if you like the city government page http://santaclaraca.gov//city-manager/smokefree-santa-clara Landlords: You must now include a copy of the full text of the law (Chapter 8.35 Smoking and Tobacco Regulations of the Santa Clara Municipal Code) in every lease or other rental agreement. There is a double-sided, one-page copy of the law titled Copy of Smoking and Tobacco Regulations for Leases available on the City’s Smokefree Santa Clara webpage. Now, my personal fear is that more folks will toss their butts onto the sidewalk or street in front of us - the litter doesn't look nice and ruins our neighborhood walks, although I'll do my best to pick up after those who do it - it would be nice if folks can take their finished cigarettes to the trash can.

The new landscaping is growing out nicely.

Executive House has AC units in all condos. However, the City of Santa Clara reminds citizens of cooling centers that are available. Hot days are also good for enjoying the pool.
