Bloomerang Lilac Enjoy classic Lilac fragrance for months instead of weeks! This revolutionary new type of lilac blooms in spring, and after a short rest during the heat of summer, it flowers again, right up until frost. Compact, mounded shape fits easily into any landscape, and is ideal as a hedge or foundation planting. Lovely accent for a container or mixed border. Good powdery mildew resistance. Deciduous.
AFRICAN VIOLETS African violets will bloom with lower light, but medium to bright indirect light is best. Leaves are susceptible to rot if kept in high humidity, so water African violets from the bottom to avoid getting excess water on the leaves.... Fertilize every 2 weeks with a high phosphorous plant food, but only during the active growing season (spring and summer). Only start to fertilize when the plant appears to need an extra boost. Over-fertilizing is a more common problem than under-fertilizing. Plants should be shifted to larger pots as they grow, but keeping African violets slightly root-bound can encourage them to bloom. The optimal time for repotting is after some leaves have wilted a bit.

New Houseplant Jewel Orchids now in stock! Ludisia, or Jewel orchids, are best known for their red and green textured leaves, which have a deep, velvety feeling. These plants do produce white or pale yellow flowers, mostly during the winter or very early spring months. Not be confused with the orchid we are all familiar with, jewel orchids like to have their roots in soil. ... Ludisia orchid care means putting your plants in a spot where they won’t get a lot of temperature fluctuation, but will have a good amount of humidity. Surprisingly, the best room in many houses for this plant is the bathroom. The steamy air and fluorescent lights are exactly the right environment to grow the deeply colored leaves without fading, while keeping the plant moistened without having to worry about extra watering chores. Feed once a month with orchid food.
