I’ve been having lots of chats lately with some of my designer friends. It seems like the world wants us to either be 1) team white walls or 2) team color everywhere and I’m here to tell you I JUST CAN’T CHOOSE ONE. I love a bright and airy house with white walls AND I love a house with color used everywhere. My house is actually a good mix of the two. I will say that I do push clients out of their comfort levels with color and pattern and the powder bathroom is the perfect p...lace to start. You spend max 3 minutes in there so you’re unlikely to get sick of anything you chose. So now tell me, are you team white walls or team color everywhere? The the beginning of 2020, I was hired by @maritzikassuarez to design @thenailtel, her dream nail salon with hotel vibes and TODAY IS OPENING DAY! It was a magical, creative collaboration and I got to work with some of my favorite Sacramento artists: @stangerprojects did an amazing drip mural, @alyssalawson’s Sacramento photos created a stunning photo wall for the lobby, and @paperandpom did the most beautiful weavings for the local artist corner. Ms Corona Virus tried to... mess with our big plans but Mari would not be deterred and handled it all with SO MUCH DAMN GRACE. (Imagine opening a business in the middle of a pandemic. A business in an industry that keeps getting closed down, no less.) This is all to say that these past nine months have been a fucking journey and working with Mari on @thenailtel was such a creative, bright light in very weird times and I couldn’t have asked for a better client turned friend. I’ll be headed there later today to get a much-needed pedicure and I can’t wait for Sacramento to experience it!
