African-American legends came to life as the 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Escuela Plus scholars conducted research and presented their projects in honor of Black History Month. We’re so proud of our dynamic students!

Escuela’s upper school students are enjoying a hands-on Science class. They are dissecting a cow’s eye. This class is increasing critical thinking skills, developing cause and effect aptitude, as well as teaching students to overcome obstacles when working on a Science project. We believe that project-based learning in the field of Science is motivating and challenging. The class is being taught by Ms. Ayesha McLaughlin, the founder of Teach to Reach.

Yesterday, Escuela’s upper school students blessed the seniors at the View Park Convalescent Home with songs in honor of Black History Month. It is important to us that our children gain an appreciation and respect for African Americans who have worked to level the playing field. It is also important for them to understand giving back. That is exactly what they were doing in sharing their angelic voices. The children brought tears to the eyes of all those who heard them.

We're so sorry to share that our beloved teacher Ms. Michelle Howell unexpectedly passed away due to illness this past week. She taught at Escuela de Montessori and at Escuela Plus for over 25 years. She will be missed and her memory will always be treasured. She positively impacted so many lives. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.

It is a 5-week program starting Monday, June 17 and ending on Friday, July 19. Spelling, reading, phonics, math, science, and social studies are taught daily.
