So exciting that a THIRD edition of THE text book on Pre & Perinatal massage is coming out!!! I read the first edition cover-to-cover until it was dog-eared and the binding crumbling. I still return to this occasionally after 16+ years of many thousands of prenatal massages -- still blown away by how comprehensive it is. I can't wait to what's in this next edition!

Prepping for our next stay-at-home-team book study group. Hannah is going deep into Spinning Babies by the humble intellectual giant Gail Tully, while Nicole is prepping some extra background context on sacrotuberous ligaments. There’s so much to our work that we can’t learn from book study, but this is a precious opportunity for us to go deep and catch up on all the brilliant work that is happening far from our massage table far geographically and far outside the limit...s of the massage industry. #prenatalmassage #prenatalmassagetherapist #ilovemyjob #anatomystudy #birthnerds

Happy Mother's Day weekend! We know you wanted a massage this year. Or, at least if there was any year you needed a massage, it's this year. We all need a massage. But massage is going to be closed here in CA for a bit longer. ... So, we did our best to get you one for Mother's Day. At the only open massage spot in town: your house. No, we can't do house calls. But we can train your family to give you a massage. We built an online class to teach your family how to give you a great shoulder massage. It’s a step-by-step lesson broken down in detail, as well as a massage-along with the pros sequence. And it’s free. It’s a gift.

For so many families, this lockdown has meant excessive amounts of screen time for kids. Way more screen time than we defined as excessive just a few weeks ago. My family is no exception! We have no tips for getting your kids off the screens. But we do have some simple massage techniques to help minimize the tension, eyestrain and headaches that seem to go hand-in-hand with so much time in front of the screen.

We continue to be closed indefinitely for hands-on massage sessions. But! We’ve taken a few of our favorite support sessions and made them available thru Zoom. Partner Massage Instruction: We can’t massage you, but we can teach your partner how to massage you. ... Infant Massage Instruction: we give you all the techniques you need to massage your baby at home. Link in below to learn more. Or message us. :)

We had a new first yesterday: an outcall massage in the time of COVID-19. I stopped in virtually to support this couple after they put their toddler down for nap time. Mom got a massage, and dad showed off his innate healing touch. He was a pro at my favorite kitty cat paw technique.

To all our pregnant & birthing families: we have some jewels of resources here in San Diego for birthing families that are taking their support for you ONLINE for the near future. CA may be locking down, but baby's still coming. Check out The Birth Education Center -- not only are their regular (AMAZING!!) childbirth classes moving online for the time-being, but other classes including Newborns 101 are online. The classes are running live online, not recorded.

We love this music. It’s playing in our massage treatment room frequently. Sometimes every day. My apologies to regular clients, but I believe I truly give my best massage when this playing. I originally heard it on NPR at 5 o’clock in the morning one day over four years ago. I was in the hospital waiting for a loved one to have a surgery. It was such a surreal moment after so little sleep. When I heard this music, it wired into my brain. It tapped into my physiology m...y breathing, my heart rate. Just like massage. It was so much more beautiful and powerful than the scientific sleep music you can find out there. It was in the massage treatment room by the next day. Our treatment room is closed for the next several weeks. We can’t exactly take our massage online. But we’re trying to share things we love (and not complain about homeschooling!)

A little self-massage at home. Got tightness in your neck and shoulders? I'd bet that you'll find some relief from this on pin-and-stretch on your pec/chest muscles. Try it! Tennis balls, lacrosse balls. You don't need anything too fancy.
