Happy Friday fam! David’s got some inspiration for you as you head into the weekend Consistency Is Key!... I eat a lota whole lot its part of my job. I own a website that catalogues the best food to eat in over 250 cities xtremefoodies and we try to live up to our nameI am also in the process of opening a restaurant here is SF.I am constantly asked if I’m bulimic or why I’m not morbidly obese Over the years I have created several habits which I have consistently followed that have kept me just on the edge of a healthy weight (25-26BMI) this epic challenge is going to get me to that promised land of <25 BMI.. its not a perfect indicator but its helpful My Goal over the years has been to create 1-2 new habits each year. I found this to be easier than trying to not drink, eat less, exercise more, eat more protein, this list of things to do is daunting. Exercise was my 1st habit. Instead of saying I would exercise more, or even go to a specific gym, I got very specific Right now, I am locked in on going to EPIC at 6:30am Mon-Tues- Wed, Tae Kwon Do on Thu 7pm and Sat 11am, + a Sunday morning run I stopped drinking soda 2 years ago and replaced it with iced tea. Last year was the year of cutting down on refined white flour. This year I’m tackling 2 things 1- Lunch. When I’m at home, since I love to cook it’s easy to control what I eat... it’s when I’m on the go that I make poor lunch decisions which ruin any gains I make elsewhere. 2- Wine. I need to drink less. I have been shedding lbs. in this challenge which I believe to be 100% due to not drinking as I haven’t made any other major changes While I will still eat out and enjoy trying to new restaurants and consume absurd amounts of calories when I make smart choices the remainder of the time, I am able to maintain status quo. It’s like brushing my teeth or wearing a seatbelt. I just do it. And when I don’t, I feel weird and feel like I missed something. Once you make it a habit it’s not hard at alland it becomes easy

You’re an inspiration #epicmemberspotlight Consistency Is Key! I was obese through my high school/college years. Over the last (almost) decade, I lost about 100 pounds, and have managed to keep it off (and add muscle!) since moving to SF in 2015. It is the best thing I've ever done and the thing I'm most proud to tell others. ... There are so many things that contribute to weight loss that it can be super overwhelming. And it is a very, very slow process you'll often be the last person to notice your own results. It is also an incredibly personal and independent journey. At the end of the day, nobody else (well, except your Epic friends!) really cares if you eat that extra slice of cake in secret. You have to stay honest and true to yourself. Our physical bodies are the direct result of the lives we choose to live. Choosing to walk to a happy hour instead of Ubering if you want a double IPA. Choosing to educate ourselves on portion sizes in a world of portion size trickery. Choosing to realize you never feel *worse* walking out of a workout than you did walking in on a bad day. Every day you'll be presented with 500+ choices that dictate what you look like at the end of the day. But they all happen independently, and you can take a step back at every moment and think of the right choice for that ONE decision. Eventually, over time, they won't be choices, but simply how you live your life. Those 500+ choices become maybe 10 choices. The exhausting brain power you're putting in can now be given to things you love. Fitness and nutrition becomes something to look forward to instead of dread because it unlocks new potential in other places of your life. And yeah, these healthy choices can often be total bummers at the start. So make sure to balance that out with the appropriate treats to yourself. Be realistic and, most of all, be happy. Buy something new for your favorite hobby. Use the money you saved on Ubers to get a new Saturday night outfit. Share your progress with others on social media. Balance the underwhelming choices you're making to hit your fitness goal with OVERWHELMING love for yourself in others areas of your life!
