Evangelical? Progressive? Conservative? Liberal? Look, everybody wants to say, "I just follow Jesus," but that pretty clearly says little to nothing about what you actually believe. What does it mean when none of the descriptions feel like they fit anymore? We're starting a new series to think it through a bit.

Let's be clear; American evangelicalism made this possible. From the very public pastoral endorsements to thinly veiled partisan rhetoric in the pulpit, much of the American church, unwittingly or not, has led us to this moment. How? Why? What is it in the faith of so many Americans that makes something like this possible? We pastors need to take a long hard look at what exactly we teach, believe, and foster.
