Too much is made of the classist distinction between _what_ and _whom_. Indignation and mutiny breed when the line separating object and life-form--once thought painfully obvious--begins to atrophy from a lack of empirical belief in it. The dwindling of such concretisms is valid cause for concern; questions of possession of property (and what constitutes each) have evolved into some of humanity's worst conflicts, its most appalling periods of imbecile savagery. Yet a rarer..., more insidious pitfall lies where these lines grow harder to discern: you can enslave yourself to the objects surrounding you.
