Fall 2018 National Scholarship for College Students with Disabilities disABLEDperson, Inc announces our Fall 2018 National Scholarship Competition for College Students with Disabilities! This competition begins on August 15, 2018 and ends on October 19, 2018 for the award of $2000.00 (two thousand dollars)! Details below and at www.disABLEDperson.com To be considered, an applicant needs to create a registration on our site www.disABLEDperson.com and b...ecome a community member. The applicant can do so by clicking on our "Sign up now" link to do so. To participate, follow these simple steps: Write an essay with no more than 1000 words (prompt can be found HERE. Next, you need to register for the competition. To do so click on Register Now link on the scholarship page. Fill out the form completely and paste your essay into the form. A few reminders: Please keep in mind that the form must be filled out completely. We cannot accept incomplete or fraudulent forms. Correct spelling and grammar are important. Please submit carefully edited drafts only. In order to qualify, the student must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 years accredited college or university in the United States of America. They must be a matriculated student and attending school full-time and U.S. citizen. We will accept students who are not attending school full-time as long as the part-time attendance is due to their disability and not their financial situation (minimum of 6 credits for undergraduate, 6 credits for graduate). Unfortunately, we are not able to award scholarships to high school students. Upon winning, the student will prove disability and matriculation through their Disability Student Services department. We define disability as described under the ADA: A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such an individual. The Office of Resource Development, along with the Drama Department, are both looking to build our development program with the help of Project Assistants.... We are looking for: 1. One Part-Time Project Assistant (20-25 hours per week) for the Office of Resource Development 2. One Part-Time Project Assistant (10 hours per week) for the Drama Department Job duties: Job duties for both positions generally include helping to create donor outreach and stewardship plans, helping with donor correspondence, helping with data management, creating and updating materials, assisting with events, and other development duties as needed. Requirements: A can-do positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Experience in a non-profit setting recommended. Experience with fundraising, events, and database management recommended. Temp position open now through June 31, 2019. Potential for extension. We have a fun, fast-paced and diverse office. Please help us spread the word to incoming UCSD transfers from your campus about support programs available to them at UCSD. The application deadline is Friday, July 6th 2018. TRIO Student Support Services Program and Hope Scholars Program are accepting applications from both incoming freshmen and transfer students in order to take part in our one-week residential summer transition program, Summer Experience from August 11th-18th. A total of 50 students will be selected to ...participate. Direct application link for TRiO SSS: https://oasismatrix.ucsd.edu/OTP/Application/ApplicationView. *TRIO serves 206 first-generation, low-income student and/or students with disabilities throughout the year and until they graduate. Priority for program admittance is with students that can attend the summer program. If students cant’ attend the week long program, they may still apply but there is no guarantee of available spots and will be placed on a waitlist. TRiO SSS is a federally funded program with caps on the number of students served. *Hope Scholars serves current/former foster youth and homeless students. You can find more information about the programs at http://oasis.ucsd.edu/. Any current/former foster youth or homeless students is highly encouraged to apply to Hope Scholars Program and TRIO SSS as well. Good news for your students: the University of California, Santa Cruz is accepting applications for winter quarter 2019 in certain majors. Beginning July 1, sophomore- and junior-level students can apply for UCSC's winter quarter that begins in January. The following majors will be open, and students will be expected to have all screening major prerequisites completed prior to enrollment. The application filing period runs from July 1 to July 31, 2018.
