Hello! We are relaunching our group and want your feedback. We would like to create a forum for people of color in the environmental community to network and share resources, challenges, and opportunities. And of course have fun. We planned to hold our first event, a happy hour, back in March, but then the pandemic shut everything down. Now with the worldwide reckoning on racial and economic injustice, our group feels even more relevant and timely. We want to provide a spac...e for environmental professionals of color to talk about issues of interest, even those we sometimes cannot openly speak about at work, but we are not sure how to create that space given the pandemic. The three of us behind this effort, Shalini Kannan at State Coastal Conservancy, Juan Pablo Galván Martínez at Save Mount Diablo, and Ariana Rickard at Mt. Diablo Audubon Society, would like to hear from you on how to build this group. What is feasible now? What purpose should this group serve? We all have full-time jobs and can only volunteer some of our time to this group, but are open to new ideas and welcome additional leaders. When we can meet in person, we hope to set up field trips, networking events, trainings, etc. If you are interested in joining our group and sharing your thoughts on how we should proceed, please click the link below to sign up and complete our short survey. Please share this survey and invitation to join our group with anyone you think might be interested. We look forward to connecting with you soon!
