Encinitas Beach Kids 06.05.2021

Summer 2020 Update: We received this communication from the City of Encinitas yesterday and wanted to pass it along to all of you as quickly as possible. We will continue to update this page with each communication we receive regarding future sessions this summer. Please feel free to reach out to the number listed at the end of this message if you have any additional questions. We hope that you and your families are well. ... "Good Afternoon All, Parks and Recreation and Marine Safety have made the decision to cancel beach programs in June and to reevaluate the beach programs for the remainder of the summer in mid-June. The messaging to the participants that went out at 4pm today is as follows. Update for the 2020 Encinitas City Junior Lifeguard Program and Beach Programs The Encinitas City staff has a long history of placing a priority on the safety and protection of our students and instructors with our Junior Lifeguard and beach programs. It is with this same priority that we approached the discussion regarding the 2020 Junior Lifeguard and beach programs. After much discussion, the City made the difficult decision to cancel the Junior Lifeguard and beach programs for sessions that begin before July 4, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision aligns with other local and state Junior Lifeguard and beach programs. Participants that have already registered their children for the June programs that are being canceled will receive a full refund within the upcoming weeks. Registration will remain closed for the time-being. Future summer sessions and registrations will be reviewed again in mid-June 2020 based on new County of San Diego Department of Health orders. City staff will communicate the status once a decision has been made. We understand the impact that these decisions have on participants and families and reiterate that this decision is being made out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of the many students who spend their summers at the Encinitas beaches. Please let me know if you have any questions. Travis M. Karlen C.P.R.P. | Acting Director City of Encinitas | Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts 505 S.
