I wanted to share a response I wrote to a post earlier which stated that: "...what is truly dangerous is romantic love..." To say that romantic love is "dangerous" might sound a bit dramatic. But, there is no denying the danger of romantic love when it is used to shore up your self-worth; when your identity, your love for self is wrapped so tightly in romantic love; your worth validated only by an external courtship of another. ... There is danger in being subordinate to the cultural cookie cutter made for tv kind of love, which has nothing to do with you but still fills you with false expectations leaving you unfulfilled, alone, cynical and afraid. There is danger in conjuring in your mind what it means to have romantic love, rather than allowing the organic, visceral heart experience of love for another romantically. When we choose to share our love with another, it is not only a decision so to connect one's heart with theirs; it is also a willingness to remain open, to bestow our soul, spill our guts and hope that it's received with grace and respect, and love. When we can hold this version of love, and have the courage to recognize what is reflecting back to us as a gift, we can transcend the danger, and begin the exhilarating adventure through the depths of our soul and experience love at it's purest state, without fear.

Big weekend for me. I got to meet one of my heroes, Esther Perel! Her work has influenced my work, as well as my personal relationships. I love that she has created a new dialogue for marriage, infidelity and sex. Stay tuned for her new book out in October! Would you want her to feel surrounded by a sense of sisterhood, community, and connection? More confident and powerful than she even knew was possible? As poet Adrienne Rich said, The connections between and among women are the most feared, the most problematic, and the most potentially transforming force on the planet. We need ourselves and our sisters to have strong, empowered voices not only to assist the evolution of this planet as a whole but, for each of us, individually, to feel inspired enough to continue to go for it whatever it is despite the obstacles. Things are changing so quickly right now. Seemingly lurching both forward and backward at the same time. Sisterhood has us rise above, transform, and metastasize the darkness into hope. I see a movement where wisdom and joy are passed woman to woman, instead of self-loathing and compromise. Sisterhood is our salvation we must stand for one another to become the heroines of our own lives. We need each other. But it is not the neediness of old; it is not the neediness of dependence and desperation. It is not the neediness of mutual victimization. I need you to be as big, blazing and radiant as you can possibly be. Because the more of your legendary light you step into, the more of mine I can inhabit and embody. By standing in my own sacred radiance, I open up room for you to stand in yoursway beyond the parameters of what you or I can imagine. Step into this new paradigm with me. Give the gift of sisterhood, connection, love. By taking your sister higher, you set the stage for her to take you even higher.

Time for #mondayaminspiration This past week I had the opportunity to get real and look at what's getting in the way of having the life I truly desire. The truth can hurt, and it can push you into self-doubt and question whether or not you are on the right path but, it can also set you free.... At times self-discovery and self-mastery require a trust walk into the dark and the choice to keep moving forward. I won't know where the path will lead until I commit to going on the journey. I've re-committed. I'm trusting the journey, and I'm fighting for what I want. Where are you? What do you really want? Are you committed to doing whatever it takes to get it?
