Although current public health conditions remain fluid and very dynamic, district and school staff continue to work with public health and labor pa...rtners on how to reopen schools. We all want to bring students back to school safely. We understand the level of frustration felt by many and ask everyone to stay focused on learning, and to stay vigilant about hand washing, wearing face masks and keep social distancing, especially by avoiding social gatherings. Due to the current high positivity rate currently in the community, the paused all in-person only activities involving the following three programs and services effective Monday, December 14, 2020 has been extended through January 19, 2021. - 17 ASES (After School Education and Safety) on-site in-person day camps - All in-person secondary athletic and/or extracurricular in-person activities - All in-person assessments A ray of hope we are following are the recent public announcements that those who work in education will be in the county’s 1b group to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. This is very promising and positive news for all of our staff. Based on recent District data, the threat of COVID-19 impacts not only our teaching staff, but also all of the essential workers who are critical for the operation of our schools and District. Currently, we are reviewing the details of the reopening proposal the Governor proposed during the winter break. Students at Franklin High School showed off their impressive musical talents and rallied to create a student-produced video of beautiful music. The Franklin Wind Ensemble worked to perfect their parts through virtual classes and at-home practice to master the piece of music featured in the video. November is recognized by EGUSD as Native American Heritage Month. The community is encouraged to attend a student panel called "Raising the Voices of Native Youth."

Based on the continued rise in COVID-19 cases in our communities and in anticipation of the issuance of a Stay Home Order for the Greater Sacramento Region in the next several days, we are making the following changes to help mitigate further COVID-19 transmission: All District buildings will be closed to walk up public access; Staff will keep working to ensure that distance learning and all other necessary functions continue uninterrupted; We ask the public to contact... school sites or other departments via phone or email for services or transactions and in-person assessments or meetings will be by appointment only; Existing on-site day camps will continue; Athletics and extra-curricular activities will return to the most restrictive Phase 1, allowing pods limited to no more than 10 students, outdoors only, with no passing of balls and conditioning only, with masks required, and all students and staff following social distancing protocols and any other guidelines as per the EGUSD protocols for Athletics and Extra Curricular Activities. Strengthening Families is not a parenting class, it's a fun, family skill building series that parents and their kids do TOGETHER!
