The Elk Grove school district announced today they plan to expand in-person class sessions from two days to four days a week, starting on April 6. Middle and high schools will reopen tomorrow for in-person learning twice a week, and later expand to the four-day model on April 13. A district spokesperson told the Citizen that the schools will still use the "concurrent" learning model where teachers simultaneously instruct students in-person and online. Students will still use laptops at their desks in the classrooms, and they will only be in schools for a few hours a day.

Update: Authorities announced that she was found. The Elk Grove police are seeking a 10-year-old girl who was reported missing. She was last seen at Frank Greg Way in the East Franklin area.

The California Highway Patrol is seeking a person of interest who may have been involved in the Feb. 7 incident where a driver struck a mother who was pushing her child in a stroller in south Sacramento. The collision occurred at the intersection of Lucchesi Drive and Harney Way. Investigators found the suspect's abandoned car two days later at Dino Drive in Elk Grove. The Elk Grove Unified School District today announced a plan to begin returning students to in-person instruction as early as Nov. 17. However, Sacramento County must reach the orange-tier status in its COVID-19 case numbers by Nov. 3 in order for this plan to proceed. The Cosumnes CSD board last night approved Phillip Lewis to be their district's new parks and recreation administrator. He will begin his new role on Nov. 18, and he will manage nearly 100 Elk Grove parks as well as the CSD's recreation programs. Lewis recently worked as the parks and recreation director for the city of Rocklin.
