If this doesn’t convince you that Maddy may be one of the most affectionate cats ever, we’re not sure what will! 4 year old Maddy would love to find a furever family all her own. She doesn’t seem too fond of other cats but loves people of all ages! Interested in adopting? Call us about Maddy (A025225)
Thank you thank you for shopping our Kitten Wishlist! Our foster closet is looking stocked and beautiful. We're so grateful for all of the support from our wonderful community

New Dogs Alert! We've got a few friends joining our adoption floor this week. Some of them do already have interested parties, but we wanted to give anyone on the hunt for a new canine companion a heads up. Head over to our website: https://elkgrovecity.org/animalshelter Or for more info on our pets that are less likely to be instantly adopted, check out our Petfinder: https://egas.petfinder.com
Check out these Before shots of Max! This poor dude has a pretty severe case of Demodex, but he’s currently residing in a foster home so he can be spoiled and loved while his skin starts to heal. We hope to be able to post some fabulous after photos in the coming weeks!
Happy #TongueOutTuesday Senior boy Sherman enjoyed a little car ride, walk, and puppaccino on a Doggy Day Out this weekend. Cross your fingers and toes for this dude. When the pups are a runnin, you might want to get out of the way! For our dog social dogs, playgroups are a great way to change up the daily grind AND help them burn off some physical energy. Yay for friends! #playgroups #egas #elkgroveanimalshelter #dogs
Update: Match made! Strider, Tybalt, and 4 kittens headed home. Only one meet and greet didn't end in adoption (poor Sherman) since the folks didn't show up. It's #TongueOutTuesday and Strider is hoping second time is the charm for his adoption! We have 5 back to back adoption appointments all afternoon today so we're hoping for LOTS of happy families. Woot woot!
Want to get cozy this winter but also want to help the animals? We’re partnering with @loove.clothingco on a fashionable fundraising opportunity! This #ElkGroveLocal business is committed to creating stylish, casual clothing items that benefit good causes. In the coming weeks they’ll reveal an exciting design incorporating our mission that will be printed on a sweatshirt and sold throughout this winter season. 10% of the profits will be donated back to us. We can’t wait to see the design and will continue to share so you all have the opportunity to purchase if you’d like!
2020 was a challenging year. Though we spent most of the year with our doors locked, with YOUR help we still managed to save a lot of lives and make a big difference in our community! So we put together a little highlights reel. Enjoy!

We’re sure you’ve noticed the winds over the last few days! It’s getting to be that time of year. With high winds comes the worry about more loose pets. Winds blow gates open, spook animals into darting away, and make it harder for them to find their way home. So bring those pets inside, secure those gates, and make sure your microchips are up to date so we can call you if they do end up with us!
And we’re LIVE! Join us as we preview our currently adoptable animals! See a dog or adult cat you are interested in? Give us a call at (916) 687-3042 and Press 3 to leave a voicemail in our Adoptions Inbox. Be sure to leave your name, phone number, and the Animal ID number of the pet you’re interested in! Hoping to adopt one of these adorable kittens? Sign up for an appointment at https://egasschedualing.as.me/adoptakittenatEGAS

And we’ll keep going with Pop Ups until we have no more kittens to adopt out ... #kittens #adopt #egas #elkgroveanimalshelter #popup #adoptdontshop
Good Golly, Miss Molly! We have a special girl to introduce to you today! This petite mixed breed girl first came to us several weeks ago heavily pregnant and terrified. Less than 48 hours after arriving, she surprised us with 5 newborn puppies! Oh my! After giving birth, Molly went into full momma bear mode making it a challenge to care for both her and the puppies since she didn't want anyone near, but can you blame her? Once her puppies were up and moving around on their ...own, we placed them excellent foster homes for socialization until they're at adoption age. And once she knew her job was done, Molly was able to start relaxing and learning to trust us. After a few weeks of quiet one-on-one time with several staff members, she is feeling ready to find her forever home. Just look at her smiles! This cutie is only 2 years old with a long life ahead of her. At only about 38 lbs, she baffles us all on her breed mix! What we do know is that she is a nervous girl who will need a patient family preferably with some nervous dog experience under the belt already. If you're interested in Molly, give us a call at (916) 687-3042 and press 3 to leave a message in our Adoptions Inbox!
Dear Diary, It’s Day 32 of my stay in this establishment and I have the humans eating out of the palm of my hand. After my first two formal complaints were received, I was upgraded to a suite with a large and luxurious litterbox, as many beds as I want, and room service all for free. And now today, I have one of them as my personal masseuse whenever I feel in the mood for some head rubs. I will expect this level of service in my next home, and it better come with an all you ...can eat buffet. Love, Chubbs
It’s that time again! Show us those tongues for #TongueOutTuesday Ghost celebrated on a walk this morning. Wish him luck because he’s meeting some adopters this afternoon!
Dogs don’t need to worry about your work schedule. They just snooze away PS these puppies are only about 6 weeks old and not yet available for adoption and we are not taking interested parties at this time. When they are made available, they will appear on our website so just check regularly!
Poptart: A Portrait of the Single Kitten When we tell people to adopt two kittens it’s not because we just want to adopt our two kittens (well, not ONLY because of that). It’s because kittens who are raised without other kittens become...Poptart. This little dude grew up alone, and as a result there’s a few skills he didn’t quite pick up such as: Ouch! Don’t bite that hard! and Hey, my hand is NOT a toy! and Okay now it’s just time to chill.... Luckily he’s still young and he can learn, but it’ll be more tricky than if he’d had a sibling to tumble with. So save yourself the trouble and adopt two kittens! OR if you have an adult cat with the energy of a baby still, give your kitty a Poptart to teach. Poptart and 17 other kittens will be hoping to be selected at today’s Kitten Pop Up. Wish them luck!
Acorn just become adoptable yesterday and already has 4 interested parties. We agree, that’s a reason to dance!
