Check out these Before shots of Max! This poor dude has a pretty severe case of Demodex, but he’s currently residing in a foster home so he can be spoiled and loved while his skin starts to heal. We hope to be able to post some fabulous after photos in the coming weeks!

We’re sure you’ve noticed the winds over the last few days! It’s getting to be that time of year. With high winds comes the worry about more loose pets. Winds blow gates open, spook animals into darting away, and make it harder for them to find their way home. So bring those pets inside, secure those gates, and make sure your microchips are up to date so we can call you if they do end up with us!

Good Golly, Miss Molly! We have a special girl to introduce to you today! This petite mixed breed girl first came to us several weeks ago heavily pregnant and terrified. Less than 48 hours after arriving, she surprised us with 5 newborn puppies! Oh my! After giving birth, Molly went into full momma bear mode making it a challenge to care for both her and the puppies since she didn't want anyone near, but can you blame her? Once her puppies were up and moving around on their ...own, we placed them excellent foster homes for socialization until they're at adoption age. And once she knew her job was done, Molly was able to start relaxing and learning to trust us. After a few weeks of quiet one-on-one time with several staff members, she is feeling ready to find her forever home. Just look at her smiles! This cutie is only 2 years old with a long life ahead of her. At only about 38 lbs, she baffles us all on her breed mix! What we do know is that she is a nervous girl who will need a patient family preferably with some nervous dog experience under the belt already. If you're interested in Molly, give us a call at (916) 687-3042 and press 3 to leave a message in our Adoptions Inbox!

Dear Diary, It’s Day 32 of my stay in this establishment and I have the humans eating out of the palm of my hand. After my first two formal complaints were received, I was upgraded to a suite with a large and luxurious litterbox, as many beds as I want, and room service all for free. And now today, I have one of them as my personal masseuse whenever I feel in the mood for some head rubs. I will expect this level of service in my next home, and it better come with an all you ...can eat buffet. Love, Chubbs

Poptart: A Portrait of the Single Kitten When we tell people to adopt two kittens it’s not because we just want to adopt our two kittens (well, not ONLY because of that). It’s because kittens who are raised without other kittens become...Poptart. This little dude grew up alone, and as a result there’s a few skills he didn’t quite pick up such as: Ouch! Don’t bite that hard! and Hey, my hand is NOT a toy! and Okay now it’s just time to chill.... Luckily he’s still young and he can learn, but it’ll be more tricky than if he’d had a sibling to tumble with. So save yourself the trouble and adopt two kittens! OR if you have an adult cat with the energy of a baby still, give your kitty a Poptart to teach. Poptart and 17 other kittens will be hoping to be selected at today’s Kitten Pop Up. Wish them luck!
