ON BEHALF OF PLACERVILLE CITY MAYOR DENNIS THOMAS: Edit: If you are planning on attending the City Council meeting tonight by Zoom, there was a problem with the original link published. Find the new link below. Join by phone:... 1-669-900-9128 or 1-346-248-7799 or 1-301-715-8592 or 1-312-626-6799 or 1-646-558-8656 or 1-253-215-8782 Enter Meeting ID: 841 8446 1727 Password: 238304 As Mayor of Placerville, I have called a special meeting for tonight, March 31st, 2021. First, I would like to apologize for the short notice, the item that is being discussed this evening and is likely to come before the Board of Supervisors at their meeting next Tuesday. This is before our council will meet at a regularly scheduled meeting. I believe it is critical that our community can have the opportunity to discuss this matter in an open meeting before the supervisor's vote. The issue before us tonight is that the County is considering selling the old DA building and Annex building to a newly formed nonprofit and not the City. These are the two buildings east of the City Christmas tree near the courthouse. These buildings are in the heart of our Downtown district and I have many concerns regarding the Board of Supervisor’s potential actions. My goal tonight is to allow our community to have a public discussion regarding this matter, something the County and the newly formed nonprofit have failed to do. Much of the conversations regarding this matter were held in a closed session out of the cities and the community’s view. There are some good reasons for that and yet, I believe the county failed to take into consideration what our community has expressed they wanted. El Dorado Gold 1848 is the new nonprofit formed by Sue Taylor, Kris Payne, Fred Ott, and R. Mason. Some of these names may look familiar and some may not. We know very little about this nonprofit or its plan for these buildings in the heart of our Downtown District. This group has not disclosed their plans to the City or the residents of our community and yet, three of the Board of Supervisors are moving forward with selling these buildings to them rather than the City. I am asking that you attend our Special Meeting of the City Council tonight at 6:00PM to hear, in more detail, what our concerns are and how you can inform the Board of Supervisors of your thoughts and feeling on this matter. Click here for the Zoom link to join our 6:00 PM meeting tonight. Hope to see you there. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82892794614 Click here to see the City agenda and staff report. https://www.cityofplacerville.org//2021%2003%2031%20Specia This meeting will be recorded if you are unable to attend. I will also provide a follow-up email to share some of the details from the meeting.

UPCOMING SILVER SPRINGS PARKWAY PROJECT ROAD CLOSURE Bass Lake Rd between new Bass lake Road Silver Springs Parkway Intersection & Magnolia Hills Drive (PLACERVILLE) El Dorado County Department of Transportation today announced the full closure of Bass Lake Road from Tuesday, April 13, 2021 through mid-June, 2021.... Construction of the Silver Springs Parkway Offsite (South Segment) Project will resume on April 12, 2021. On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, the County’s contractor will be performing paving work on Bass Lake Road between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. that will significantly delay traffic. At the end of this shift, Bass Lake Road will be closed between Silver Springs Parkway and Magnolia Hills Drive until June 2021. The work to be performed after April 13 includes the widening of Bass Lake Road, sidewalk and pedestrian crossings, drainage improvements, and intersection improvements for the Bass Lake Road and Silver Springs Parkway intersection. The full closure of Bass Lake Road between Bass Lake Road Silver Springs Parkway intersection and Magnolia Hills Drive is necessary to construct the project safely. The detour plan is attached. Changeable message signs were placed on Bass Lake Road and Green Valley Road on Monday, April 5, 2021 notifying motorists of the upcoming closure.
