Don't try to burn wood logs in a fireplace that has not been built to sustain that heat. Know the limitations of your firebox unit. Many homes, particularly those built after 1967, only have a prefab metal unit that is unsafe for wood burning. There are many options available- So please don't start a fire! Check out this report from Architizer; it's very informative.
Did you know that if you are doing work on a property that was built before 1965, the Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering will require you to provide a sewerline video inspection that they will review before your permit is finalized. If they find that your concrete line is compromised, they can require that you perform the needed repairs -at your expense- before any certificate of occupancy is issued. On the bright side, who wants a house with a broken sewerline anyway?
May all your Christmas dreams come true
