In true library fashion, we're kicking off Black History Month with links to not one, but two Black history reading lists... bit.ly/bhmlist is a bookshelf of curated ebooks in ProQuest eBook Central researchguides.elac.edu/antiracistreadinglist is a curated list of antiracist reading material and resources for both ELAC students and faculty developed by Librarian @erika_montenegro To access these ebooks, you will need to follow the ACE login directions on screen before ...the ebooks load. Stay tuned throughout the month of February for more Black History Month highlights and curated paired readings. #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #libraries #elac #elaclibrary #bhm #antiracist

Dear ELAC Students: In preparation for #OpenAccessWeek next week, we want to hear your opinions, thoughts, and stories about the required textbooks you use in class. Textbooks today have become SUPER EXPENSIVE. Did you know about 80% of the entire textbook industry is dominated by five publishers (you might have heard of them!): Pearson, Scholastic, McGraw-Hill, Cengage, and Houghton Mifflin? On top of that, libraries usually can't even purchase the eBooks of these textbooks ...so that all students can access them. Because of this, libraries are committed to open access, a movement around making information freely available and restricting barriers to access. Want to tell us your story about the impact textbooks have had on your experience as an ELAC student and on your life? Visit this link to share your story (text, GIF, video, audio--be creative!) >>>>>>> http://bit.ly/ELACtextbooks (If you don't want to use the link, post your comment below and start with an asterisk/star (*) to let us know you want your story added to the storyboard!)
