The El Dorado County Sheriff's Explorer Post #457 is proud to help notify everyone about the Police Unity Tour. Our own Sergeant Michael Seligsohn will be participating in the ride this year and needs our community support! While this fundraiser is to raise awareness for all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the performance of their duties Sergeant Seligsohn is riding in remembrance of our own, Deputy Brian Ishmael. We would like to ask the community to... check out the links attached and support these endeavors if they can. We stand strongest when we stand together! On 2-6-21 Explorers visited the El Dorado Gun Club to watch the United States practical Shooters Association competition. The Association was taking the opportunity of the competition to raise funds for Downed Deputy Adam Gibson of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and there was a raffle. One of the prizes was a blue line flag crafted from firehose by a local area artist. Don Sandretto, who was in attendance, won the artwork and through a retired EDSO employee (th...anks Stacie) made a donation of the flag to the Sheriff's Explorer Post #457. The flag can be seen pictured here at recent Post meeting. We have yet to determine the best use for the art and Don expressed that he would like the Post to benefit from his donation in any way we see fit. Thank you Don for your generous donation; both to Deputy Gibson's family and our Explorer Post. See more
On 2-21-21 select members of the El Dorado County Sheriff Explorers Post 457 joined the United States Practical Shooters Association (USPSA) members in an "Intro to USPSA" course at the El Dorado Gun Club. The Explorers would like to thank the instructors for showing them how to compete in the USPSA and exposing them to the world of safe competitive shooting exercising their 2nd amendment rights. The instructors provided a rules and safety procedures walk-through and then u...sing a set-up course of fire had the Explorers participate in a competition-like course. They explained how the competition progresses and gave members pointers and suggestions to succeed at each step. This course was open to the public and others were participating besides the Explorers. The instructors really showed the Explorers what is possible without even being warmed up. The Post would also like to thank the Friends of the NRA whose grants have supported the youth firearms education program. Grants and support from the public at fundraising events along with support from the Sheriff make all this possible for the youth in our community. https://www.friendsofnra.org/ https://uspsa.org/ https://actionpistol.org/el-dorado-edps https://www.edgunclub.com/

Caedon Johnson from the Explorer POST participated in the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) competition in Yolo County in early March at the Yolo Sportsman's Association. He was accompanied by POST Advisor and Rangemaster Sgt. B. Johnson. As a junior competitor he won a $75.00 check for his placement scores in the category he competed in. Congratulations Caedon!
Our Explorers returned home from the Stockton CHP competition. Out of 12 teams we placed 3rd in Critical Incident, 2nd in Mental Health Crisis Intervention, and 2nd in Felony Traffic Stop. This was the first competition for several of the Explorers on our team and we are extremely proud of their hard work and representation of EDSO.
