Cosumnes CSD Fire Department's CERT Level 3 classes are starting in just a few weeks. Robert Du Gaue will be teaching the Elk Grove class starting July 23rd. Linda Walton and her Husband teach the Galt class beginning Thursday July 26th. It's a seven week course (once a week and a final on Saturday of last week) that is jammed packed of useful information to help you and your family with the knowledge and skills necessary to be self-sufficient in the event of a major disaster or emergency. To all Level 1 and 2 Elk Grove/Galt members there is going to be a General Meeting and Medical Refresher. Level 2s you will benefit from this as well. It is on January 27th, Saturday, from 9-1at the Training Center.

Great End-of-Year General Meeting and pot luck. Games, raffles, prizes, a good time was had by all. We also took time out to honor one of our values members, Dale Miller, who has been with this group from the beginning. He also was, and always will be, one of our valued instructors. Dale has stepped down from teaching and passed the baton to Robert DuGaue - another amazing instructor. Dale will still be active in our other venues. Thanks to all our Elk Grove/Galt members for making our team so great. Happy Holidays to all! And be safe.

UPDATE: The child has been found! Thanks for the help! Urgent Alert from Elk Grove Police Department: "This is the Elk Grove Police Department with an urgent message. We are currently searching for a missing 6th grader named Joshua Smith. He was last seen this morning around 8am in the area of Franklin and Laguna Blvd. He is described as an 11 yr old African American male who is 4ft 9in tall and weighs about 100 lbs . He was last seen wearing a blue collared tshirt, tan pants..., and black shoes. If you have seen this child today, or know of his whereabouts, please contact Elk Grove PD at 916-691-5246 or dial 9-1-1." Please keep an eye out and help make others aware. If you see anything make sure to call!

Missing Person Update James Blanton has been located & is alert/conscious in the area of Bilby Rd. / Bruceville Rd. He has been taken to a local area hospital for treatment. Thank you to everyone who came out to help search!

Ways to prepare and stay safe now. (http://www.ready.gov) Avoid walking or driving through flood waters. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.... If there’s a chance of flash flooding, move immediately to higher ground. Flash floods are the #1 cause of weather-related deaths in the US. Walk only where floodwaters aren’t moving. Use a stick to check the depth of the water and firmness of the ground in front of you. If floodwaters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. Just 1 foot of water can stall your engine and make the car float away. Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning.

CERT ACTIVATION has been issued.......please check your phone, emails, texts, etc; We need assistance at the DOC, standby for road closures, and/or vehicle windshield survey with Prevention to look for potential hazards to report back.

Sacramento Cert is providing support for a Point of Distribution in Loch Lomond, handing out water, gloves, masks, and information to people being repopulated. ... Metro Fire CERT has a team manning a Point of Distribution in Middletown. Sacramento Cert and Folsom CERT are providing members to man 800 lines for evacuee calls. Sacramento Cert and Elk Grove/Galt CERT are providing members to Staging at base camp and to help with donation management. See more

A request has been made for immediate volunteer assistance of CERT agencies by CAL-Volunteers at the Valley Fire incident. This is a deployment as an agency, do not self deploy as an individual. This deployment is to Lakeport and could consist of duties of any sort for which you may be qualified. Lodging and food will be provided. Personnel are requested for a term of a few days up to two weeks..... Initial response to occur this late afternoon or evening... Tonight's All Members meeting. We will have more upcoming training classes for flood, power safety and HAM, as well as community volunteering events. Thank you June for the beautiful and delicious cake.

There will be an All Members meeting on Wednesday, September 16th, at the Training Center. 6pm until completed... (Not long)... We will all have the opportunity to hear of new plans, policies, and just what is going on in the organization as well as the opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions, etc. There will also be burgers and hot dogs. Feel free to bring something additional!
