As Spring nears this year we are pleased to welcome Tom MATOUSEK to our roster of fine artists. Tom is a Northern California talent who has the distinction of being one of the officially licensed DISNEY ARTISTS. Passing rigorous in-house scrutiny and being juried in by the official publisher, Disney Fine Art, Tom is now creating a plethora of DISNEY images in his own, unique, style. He’s just returned from the The Epcot International Festival Of The Arts in Florida where h...e met with great success and added many new fans to his devoted following. In addition to his DISNEY work, Tom concentrates his efforts on creating a more refined series of paintings which he considers his finest art. These are the works that we here at Edward Montgomery Fine Art have the privilege of showing. MATOUSEK has focused so far on portraits of famous music and film personalities. Our clientele has taken quickly to Tom’s dramatic and captivating style. His technique is completely original but draws on many influences. From Cubism to Impressionism to Abstract. Tom’s own brand of rendering results in a sort of pixelated kaleidoscope of fractured imagery pieced together in a seamless painterly mosaic of color and light. The finished work is compelling and hard to look away from. We are extremely pleased to have these exciting paintings in the Gallery and we look forward to seeing what Tom MATOUSEK comes up with next! Wanted to brag a bit on my dear friend and colleague Steven Sonny Pops Maier. Sonny is a Pop Art practitioner working in Honolulu who parodies iconic Pop Art imagery reconstituting it to comment on the shameless commercialism of the Hawaii tourist industry. His work is beautifully made. It pays respectful homage to the original images and artists while at the same time coyly and tastefully emphasizing the over-commercialization of all things Alhoa. Sonny Pops has a 30 year retrospective on exhibit now in the old Tiffany Building on Luxury Row in Waikiki. Here are some examples and a link to a Television segment about the show that aired this past weekend. It’s moderated by the artist himself. Kudos Steve! http://bit.ly/2SYQwYM #SonnyPops

In 2018, Don DAHLKE began experimenting with Cubism. While clearly inspired by Braque and Picasso, DAHLKE’s cubist compositions reveal an updated visual vocabulary informed by the POP artists of the 60’s and late 20th century animation and advertising imagery. This new journey that Don is on, completely separate and apart from his signature window work, has already proven popular here in the Gallery. We’re all curious to see how it develops. Stay tuned! https://edwardmontgomeryfineart.com/artist/don-dahlke/
