This is going to be an early Word of the Week post. We usually have the word of the week on a Sunday, but it’s going to have to be posted earlier. Today’s word of the week is Pertain. We use the word pertain as a way to say a subject or object belongs to another group. It’s another way of referring to something that would belong to another group or person. Knowing what pertain is will be helpful when going into middle or high school. As you go up a grade, the words will get more and more difficult to understand. Happy Wednesday everyone! Today, we’re going to be introducing two new professors here at EDUBUS. Our first teacher, Mr. Steven, an English-native speaker from Detroit, Michigan who’s trilingual and specializes in literature, language acquisition, and writing composition. He believes that the most effective way to teach students is to keep them actively engaged, utilizing higher-order thinking skills to attain long-term retention on a regular basis. Our second teacher is Ms. ...Toni, she has a master’s degree in linguistics and reading from UC Berkeley. She believes that everyone, especially children, all learn by being part of the learning process and that it is the teacher’s role to know every student and being with them in every discussion. Her students have won awards in the past such as Kid’s Write!, Scholastic Kids are Authors, and The Critical Junior Poet Award.
