Despite being deemed non-essential (which is quite true) I'd like to try my best at being indispensable. In our local market, I'm tracking three things: 1. Cancelled listings, which are sellers removing their homes from the market. 2. Back on market homes, which are buyers cancelling their contracts. 3. Hold listings, which are sellers pausing their listing rather than cancelling.... I have seen a sharp uptick in all three, which tells us what we already know: consumer confidence is falling in a highly uncertain time. I am planning a long form post explaining my thoughts on all of this, so stay tuned for that, but in the mean time suffice to say that I remain optimistic that the housing market holds together, and after some lag we largely return to normal.
