You never know who you are inspiring. I see the same people almost every morning in the gym. Most of them I don’t talk to...we just know each other’s faces. One of those random faces emailed me today. He said On days when I want to pack up and leave before the work is done, I look over at you and see you crushing it. Just your presence is truly motivating. Guys! I almost cried. It just goes to show you, you never know who is looking up to you, who you inspire, and who you motivate. Who inspires you?

Back to basics! I think it’s advantageous for everyone to track their food at some point in life just to get a better idea of what and how much they’re eating. But calorie counting can be tedious and inaccurate. Learning about portions is a basic way to keep your diet in check. Precision Nutrition does a great job of developing a portion control guide. Make sure to swipe left to see the portion guide for men! ... People who are seeking fat loss should eat 4-5 times a day. Each meal should include one palm sized serving of lean protein and 1-2 fists worth of vegetables. All meals except the last meal should include one cupped hand worth of complex carbs. One thumb sized portion of fat should be included in 2-3 meals. Of course there are several factors that will affect the complete recommendations that I would give a client, but if you are looking for some basics, this is a good place to start Let me know if you have questions!

Ask yourself daily, "Did you do everything in your power to better yourself physically and mentally?" If the answer is yes, then it was a good day!

Are those 10 minutes of pleasure really worth the hours of guilt you will feel afterwards? Here are some tips to help avoid binging and other mindless eating: 1. THINK ABOUT IT! Again, are those few minutes worth the guilt. 2. Drink some water. Far too often our bodies mistake thirst for hunger. Go drink 16 oz of water and reevaluate. 3. Read, color, draw, write a story...do anything to get your mind off food. We often times eat out of boredom. So when you are sitting around... and suddenly think "Hmmm...I'm hungry." Think again. Take your mind off of food for about 15 minutes with a hobby and see if you are still hungry after those 15 minutes. If you are, eat a light snack. 4. EXERCISE. Try jumping rope or rocking out 20 squat jumps. This way instead of mindlessly eating and intaking tons of calories, you're burning them instead! See more

How crazy is this? Asked to leave because she was too fit?! What kind of "non-discrimination" is this??

I used to have negative dietary displacement...saving my calories for splurges on the weekends. That led to poor nutrition, constant hunger, and irritability. Once I changed my lifestyle and eating habits, I have found myself being full WAY more often and ingesting way fewer calories. Do you have positive or negative dietary displacement?

We all come across things in our life that we think we cannot overcome. We fall down, we scrape our knee, and we want to throw in the towel. But rising above those struggles, those challenges...that's what makes a winner. That is what sets you apart from everyone else. That is what makes you great! So stand back up, brush the dirt off, and keep going.
