Hey there, Econ Bears! As we ease ourselves back into the groove of school and work, we are eager to share with you our #1 strategy for bolstering your productivity in the next six weeks before finalscollaborate with others. Whether you join a study group, discuss lectures with a classmate, or tackle the next problem set with our peer tutors, collaboration is the one strategy to keep you motivated, creative, and well-versed in your learning materials. By creating fertile gr...ounds for the sharing of diverse perspectives, experiences, and toolkits, collaboration connects you socially, expands your range of knowledge, and builds your creative problem-solving muscle. As you complete larger assignments like term projects, collaboration can also boost your productivity and efficiency. This strategy works especially well when you have a structured learning community who meet on a regular basis. (For you Bears who are looking to expand your résumé, collaboration is one of the most sought-after skills in the workplace of the 21st century, so make time to practice it as much as you can!) Knowing this, for us at the SLC Econ team, collaboration informs every service that we offerif you've noticed, our motto is Mastery through Collaborative Learning! So if you're looking for some collaboration magic, join our Program Ambassadors and Peer Tutors in Drop-in Tutoring this week from 1-5PM PDT, Monday through Thursday. We look forward to seeing you all in Drop-In!

Hello Econ Bears! If you’re looking for additional study resources now that finals are approaching, you’re in luck! Drop-in Tutoring is the perfect place to study and engage in collaborative and active learning with peers. Want to learn more about Drop-in? Here are three FAQs and our team's responses: Q: What exactly is Drop-in Tutoring? A: Much more than a one-on-one tutoring session, Drop-in is: - An effective open study space that fosters collaboration and deep understandi...ng through active learning; - A safe space to ask and discuss questions that lead to thoughtful reflection and long-term retention; - A judgment-free zone that offers mutual understanding and support to each and every Econ Bear. Q: When can I come in then? A: Drop-in is not limited to questions on the problem sets or practice midterms; in fact, come in anytime you're studying for Econ! Whether you're reviewing lectures, organizing your notes, or doing homework, our tutors and ambassadors would love to chat and work with you on any questions you have. Q: How do I make the most of my time there? A: The collaborative, respectful environment we strive to build wouldn’t be possible without you and what you add to Drop-in, so bring with you: - A positive attitude and an expectation for collaboration amongst your peers. - An open mind to actively listen and engage in discussions with your peers; - The desire to improve and deepen your knowledge of Econ beyond problem set answers. And that's how we build a collaborative and productive Drop-in culture! We hope you'll choose to embark on this mission with us and join us in Drop-in Tutoring this week. We'll be open Monday through Thursday, from 1-5PM PDT. You can find the course-specific schedule and sign-in instructions on our website: https://slc.berkeley.edu/economics We look forward to seeing you soon!

Greetings, Econ Bears! We hope you are doing well! With Spring Break just one week away (!), the excitement in the air is palpable. If you're like us and are looking forward to unwinding this break while still being on top of your academics, we want to take this time to share some of the tips our team has successfully used for striking that balance. ... Turn your to-do’s checklist into a SMART goals list: Writing out clear goals using the SMART framework will lessen your cognitive and psychological load, as well as increase your chance of accomplishing your tasks. Segment your SMART goals into short-term and long-term: This will help you focus your efforts productively so you’re not overspending or underspending time on your obligations. Build self-care and social activities into your calendar: Use the same strategy you use for classes and meetings for wellness and connectionif it's not on your calendar, chances are it's not getting done. Schedule your reading time and check-ins with friends, even if it's just a 30-minute phone call. (Our team is *this* close to scheduling nap time. We're big on making even the smallest amount of time work for ourselves and our loved ones.) Try something new: Pick up a new hobby, put together a new dish, or tune into a new show you wouldn't typically watchthe act of stepping out of your routine will help you reset mentally and rejuvenate your creativity. It's having fun and being productive at the same time! Making progress toward your academics and spending time tending to yourself can sometimes feel at odds with each other, but by having clear goals, an intentional schedule, and purposeful engagements, we can have both in the same space. But Spring Break is one week away, and in the meantime, Drop-in Tutoring is still live! Whether you want to round out your problem set, clarify a lecture slide, or ask lingering questions before heading into an exam, click here to connect with our team. We look forward to seeing you in Drop-in! Warmly, SLC Economics Program
