Soil is our greatest agricultural resource, and growing and maintaining healthy soil fertility is fundamental to a sustainable GROW BIOINTENSIVE garden. John Beeby's easy-to-understand new series "Soil Science Spotlight" is part of Ecology Action's effort to help small-scale Biointensive farmers and gardeners learn how soil testing and soil science can help us all grow more vegetables!

We are excited to announce our annual Fall 3-Day GB Workshop will be held online via Zoom, over three Saturdays: November 7, 14, and 21, 2020. We usually hold our workshops over a single weekend, which requires a larger time commitment from participants, plus travel and housing. This year, everyone can experience the same wonderful and informative workshop online, from the comfort of their homes and gardens! GROW BIOINTENSIVE Sustainable Mini-Farming (GB) is the original rege...nerative, sustainable, organic agriculture, rooted in heritage farm-craft and proven with science. John Jeavons and Ecology Action developed GB over almost 50 years of hands-on research and teaching. John wrote the best-selling book How to Grow More Vegetables... and leads the workshop, assisted by Matt Drewno, manager of our Victory Gardens for Peace Biointensive demonstration site on the Mendocino Coast. Both are Certified Master-Level GROW BIOINTENSIVE Teachers. If you're interested in learning proven ways to grow a great soil and abundant harvests in less space with less water, energy, and fertilizer, we would love to see you online this fall. Over three Saturdays, you'll learn how to use up to 66% less water, save up to 94% in energy, and grow soil up to 60 times faster than nature - all while increasing your garden yields - plus much more. Many of us already use Zoom to connect with friends, family and work; for those new to Zoom, it's about as simple to use as YouTube. The online workshop will be very similar to our in-person workshops, covering topics ranging from seed starting, compost building, and harvesting all the way to more technical material like nutrition, diet design and garden planning. Our in-person demos on topics including double-digging and bed preparation will be covered by detailed demonstration videos, with question and answer sessions held after we watch as a group. Learn to grow more food, using simple yet powerful techniques, directly from the source, in the comfort of your home. Cost is $285 per person and includes a workshop e-manual. Other required publications need to be purchased if you do not already own them. Registration closes November 3. Complete information and registration at growbiointensive.org/workshop.html. Start growing a more sustainable and abundant life today. We hope to see your smiling faces in November!
