We are just a week away from Election Day and early voting locations are available before the November 3, 2020, election. It's important to be safe while you a...re voting in person, please wear a mask and keep at least 6 ft between yourself and others. You can still register to vote in person and Voting Centers will provide masks to voters who arrive without them. Voting by mail is still an option and ballots are being returned in record numbers through USPS and county drop boxes. We must do our part to slow down the spread of COVID-19 and practice our right to vote! Find a #VoteCenter at http://ow.ly/8fJs50C471G.
Our City has never stopped working during the pandemic. Our LA Animal Services team continues to provide essential services, even for our furry friends. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Learn more about adopting or fostering a pet at LAAnimalServices.com.
We must continue to take steps to protect the health and safety of #SouthLA residents. According to this recent Los Angeles Times article, air quality appears t...o be a critical factor for coronavirus risk. This map illustrates how pollution is one of several interrelated factors that stem from historical inequities and combine to make people of color more likely to suffer from COVID-19. Read the full article at http://ow.ly/aKeB50BSJIg. Join us this Thursday, at 6 PM on zoom to hear directly from Black public health professionals about the importance of protecting our communities from COVID-19. Bring your questions and register for our zoom forum at http://ow.ly/ScM550BSJNf.

Today, my colleagues and I on the LA City Council voted to serve as the fiscal agent for funds donated from legal cannabis companies for a reward for informatio...n to encourage residents to share information that would help authorities find Juan Carlos Hernandez. Donations can be made via the LACityClerk’s office. Please continue to spread the word and help authorities locate Juan.
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a reminder that we must continue to repair the harm and trauma our country continues to cause Native and Indigenous people. Today we ...stand in solidarity while celebrating and honoring their history, culture and contributions. We must stop the glorification of a murderous slave owner and make Indigenous Peoples' Day a federal holiday.
In the current spree of gun violence in our neighborhoods we’ve appreciated LAPD officers, community leaders, businesses & residents urgently working together to keep everyone safe. Safety in our community is our joint responsibility and something we can only achieve together.
Check your mailbox, mail in ballots will begin arriving this week. Over 21 million ballots will be mailed out to registered voters in California, more than in a...ny state in the nation. Absentee ballots should be mailed no later than Monday, 29 days before the Nov. 3 election. Get registered or check your registration status at Registertovote.ca.gov.

Thank you, LAPD Southwest Community Police Station. Your dedication and skill during this pandemic are making a difference in our community. Every day you make a commitment to serve and we very much appreciate you being on the frontline.
COVID-19 continues to drastically impact the health, safety and economic vitality of our communities. No one should fear eviction during this crisis and I worke...d quickly to ensure #SouthLA residents and other Angelenos would remain safe. I would like to thank Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state Legislature for helping to avert a housing crisis by approving legislation to extend protections against evictions by five months for California renters facing financial hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic. HCIDLA is still helping tenants collaborate with their landlords, and is providing a fact sheet and a sample notification form to assist in notifying your landlord of delays in paying your rent during this emergency order period. Visit http://ow.ly/vF0k50Bfe38 to learn more about the protections in place for renters. Read the full Los Angeles Times story at http://ow.ly/slKW50Bfe39.
Let’s make sure we don’t have a shortage of poll workers for early voting and Election Day. Poll workers tend to be older, which means they’re more vulnerable t...o COVID-19. And since this pandemic isn’t under control yet, a lot of them are understandably sitting this one out. Fewer poll workers could mean fewer polling places and longer lines. So here’s what we need: more peopleespecially young, healthy peopleto do their part for this country and volunteer to make sure this election runs fairly and safely. It’s one of the most crucial things you can do for our country right now. If you can volunteer, I hope you’ll do it. Sign up at PowerThePolls.org. See more

I want to make sure every renter in L.A. knows that eviction protections remain in place in the City of Los Angeles and are not expiring. Though our protections... are staying in place locally, we need our state and federal legislators to take urgent action to extend renter protections and provide financial relief for tenants and landlords across the state and country. For Angelenos who have questions or need help with eviction protections in L.A., you can find information from our City team at Mayor.LA/ZUX730r4scJ or by calling 1-866-557-7368 Monday-Friday. If you need legal assistance, you can find free services at Coronavirus.LACity.org/LARepresents.
