Geez. I made this graphic weeks ago with the thought that I should be promoting my practice more so that I can get back to where I was before I moved and then moved again. But then George Floyd was killed and I thought, there are bigger problems than my practice being slow to launch. I’ve been feeling down the last few weeks because the racism and inequality that’s been around us for hundreds of years is in the spotlight. I grew up mostly in DC, amongst a mostly very educate...Continue reading

Windowsill still life with jasmine blooming outside. In my office the air is fresh (and beautifully fragrant) and clean and the space is bathed in sun. Starting may 18 I'll see seeing patients again here. Please contact me for appointments and for details on all of the precautions I'm taking to keep it safe here. I'm forward to seeing you soon!

When this began in march I thought I'd never survive. But actually, the time to slow down and be still had been amazing. Among other wonderful things, (I learned how to make text 'art') I've spent lots of time enjoying my family and reading things I don't usually have the time to read. I've also realized something important, which is that, in order to really know something, you must focus on it and practice knowing it. For my whole life I've mastered jumping from thing to thing while learning little about lots of things rather than a lot about a few. I always thought the latter made you boring, but now I think it's what gives depth. I am, nevertheless, looking forward to going back to my practice where I will continue to connect and listen and slow down with others. I look forward to sharing space and time with all who come to see me!

I guess I forgot to say that we moved back to San Diego from Pennsylvania in June 2019. I've wanted to start working again all along but there have been numerous setbacks due to the process of settling and resettling. It's not always been an easy time despite the fact that I am so happy to be back where I want to be. It seems as though just about almost all of the practitioners I know have been relying on social media to let their patients and whatever public that they can re...ach know that they are here to help during this time that we can't be seeing people in person. I'm a little wary of communicating via social media for my business. Call me old fashioned, or maybe I'm shy, or maybe I'm lazy. I get stuck in the process sometimes and can't just do. But then it occurred to me today that my patients KNOW I'm 'here' for them and I don't need social media to say that. I've always made myself available to anyone in need and nothing has changed now. I'm learning a lot about communication and trying to get better every day. Even though people know I am here for them, they/you may not know I'm ACTUALLY HERE! So...I am going to try to get better at this. It has just never really been my style to self-promote or publicly share so much about myself. But times are different and they are changing. Please feel free to call if there is anything I can do to help: herb consults (and mailed herbs, topical stuff, and plasters), qi gong suggestions, cooking/eating ideas, or just good vibes... You can contact me here, or my office number 858-255-1512, or through my website www.pataphys.com Oh, and I got a real business name too! Emily Sablosky Acupuncture is now East West Medicine - my office is now in a beautiful quiet building near Balboa Park.

I just moved back to San Diego and am getting going again. My practice is the same - only better - and is now called East West! You can find me within the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego by appointment throughout the week. I am glad to be back in San Diego and look forward to serving the community!

Leaving York is bittersweet. I can't say I've loved every minute of being here but, from a professional point of view, I am so full and grateful with love and knowledge from the patients and friends I've had in the nearly two years I've been practicing here. I've had the amazing fortune to introduce a number of people to acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and show them how it can not only really help them but help them to relax and unwind unwanted patterns in their lives. I hav...e always learned so much about myself through patients: about how to be a better and more educated person, how to see things from a perspective that isn't my own, and (above all) how to help people more. The volume of patients I have seen while here and with a spectrum of issues not always so commonly seen has been a real gift - the more you know the more you can do and in this medicine that is for sure true. I am grateful to my relations, thank you (past, present, and future) for giving me such a special gift of your trust and your time! See more

It's official (and rather last minute)! I will be rekindling my practice in San Diego starting in mid-June. I've learned and grown a lot and look forward to reconnecting with friends and patients and making new ones! I will be practicing from 4229 Park Blvd. (within the Taoist Sanctuary).

Wu Wei, Niksen, meditation, call it what you will but I often recommend to patients to give themselves unprogrammed time to decompress and feel and be. Even just a few minutes here and there is good! Here is a good short article about this topic that keeps popping up. There is nothing to be lauded about being busy. Give yourself a break and be good to yourself!
