Hey DWC community! You can help women isolate safely during COVID-19 by donating a variety of canned goods and meal items. This Friday ONLY, from 10am to 2pm, staff will be on-site to collect any canned or other prepackaged and ready-to-cook or eat foods that you drop off at 442 S. San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Please note that you MUST email [email protected] to schedule your drop-off prior to arriving! There is a 200 can limit per person/group. Thank you for your support!!
One in three individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles are women. This reality is why the Downtown Women’s Center focuses on the specific needs of women who are going through homelessness, so that they can be best supported and find a path to housing and sustainability. Homelessness has a solution. #TogetherHoused

Oh no! Our website is down today but we're working to get it back up ASAP! Our apologies to anyone trying to access it for info and donations -- we'll be sure to post an update as soon as it's back. Thanks for all your support and patience!
Our awesome Board of Directors had a blast at their virtual retreat this week, where they discussed the future of DWC and how we can progress in supporting women experiencing homelessness in LA over the next 3 years! #DWC #EveryWomanHoused
This November, voters in L.A. County and across the state of California have the opportunity to support women experiencing homelessness and the Downtown Women's Center. For statewide propositions, we urge you to vote @YesOnProp16, @YesOnProp17, and @VoteNoProp20. Here in L.A. County, vote YES on Measure J @reimaginelosangeles.
We're still celebrating the outcome of yesterday's @LACountyBOS meeting -- and that means celebrating you, our community. Over the past week, more than 200 of you wrote or Tweeted to your supervisor in support of this historic motion. Numerous partner organizations also sent letters of support and helped amplify our campaign online. Your passion sustains and fuels us, and we are so honored to have your support. Thank you!!! #DWC #EveryWomanHoused
Today is truly a historic day for DWC and the more than 21,000 women who are experiencing homelessness in L.A. County. Just a few minutes ago, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to designate unaccompanied women as a recognized homeless subpopulation in the County. We are so inspired by the leadership of Supervisor Hilda Solis in introducing this motion, and humbled by the support of the more than 200 individuals who helped ensure its approval by emailing or Tweetin...g at their Supervisor. On behalf of everyone here at DWC, THANK YOU for your commitment to ending women's homelessness with us. As we take this moment to celebrate, we also recognize that our work is far from over. Now, we must ensure that L.A. County fully implements this motion and makes good on their promise to deliver meaningful programs and funding to unaccompanied women. We must also engage state and federal policymakers on the importance of formally recognizing unaccompanied women. We'll continue to provide updates on these actions and offer ways to get involved. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being a partner in this critical work! #DWC #EveryWomanHoused
We're so excited to share with you today an opinion piece authored by our very own CEO, Amy Turk, on why designating unaccompanied women as a recognized homeless subpopulation in LA County is such a critical step towards ending women's homelessness! Thank you @CalMatters for helping us spread this important message. Read the full piece now at https://bit.ly/2S91N7v #DWC #EveryWomanHoused
