DUSTY'S GUITAR

Well, was this a big surprise! I get home from the shop and go to the studio to do some playing, and I'll be darned if a 3 foot Sub-Saharan Spitting Cobra was all inter-twinned with my Explorer! Jeez...what the hell? I swigged a bit of bourbon and got an idea. If I stuck my arm down there, the cobra would prolly just run off....right? Not a chance, the viper got me on my right arm and within 10 minutes the slithering creature was comatose and pretty much out of action. I know the hawks here in Bonsall love snake so I put him out in the field. I dabbed some bactine on the fang marks and finally got some jam time. Whew, you just never know huh??

So, as u get older, some of ur *hit don't work as gud as it once did. No prob...I went to voodoo priestess and had my finger fixed. It hurts like hell so no playing for a while. But, since I cud not play, I thought I would listen to really loud blues, drink beer and just watch them hangin there. Sat there for hours....like lookin at a killer sunset or a van gogh painting. Only those things don't have strings. Too bad for them!! Who doesn't like a contest with prizes? Here ya go my gtr addict bros (and sis's) Look closely at this pic....the first one who can correctly identify the make & models of the 12 gtrs shown wins a bitchen' gtr strap and a bad-ass Pig-Hog cable.. that ain't nothing to sneeze at. Don't need the year....make & model...dig it: Ford Mustang, Glock 22, Epiphone New Yorker, etc...got it? Now git bizzy!!!!

Guitars, in particular, electric guitars...are essentially an extension of the personality of the artist playing it. I mean like Jimi was one with his strat, likewise SRV. Carlton? Why the 335 of course! And Angus Young without his SG? No way Jose! And Elvis Costello had that bitchen Jazzmaster. And so it goes, on & on. But today I want to debut my latest sextoy, a 1976 Gibson Limited Edition Bi-Centennial Firebird. I mean to tell ya, neck-thru-body, banjo-style tuners, gold ...hardware, twin gold plated mini-humbuckers, off-set (backwards) body cut...and if that was not enuf, a Red, White & Blue Firebird on the pickguard to let all those who need to know: this sweet thang was MADE IN AMERICA! Ooo-rah!!! You see, some gtrs are like washing machines, they do the job really well but they aren't much to look at. But that's ok, I own plenty of those! (Les Paul called his first ones "the log") But today we're talking sexy. And in my humble opinion, the Gibson Firebird was the sexiest electric guitar made. And this all original low-action firecracker is now making friends with the rest of the cast here in the Bonsall studio. ps, the '61 SG Les Paul Custom with sideways tremolo in Alpine White would be right up there with the 'bird as would the delightfully cute Fender Mary Kay Strats with that see-thru finish. It is with profound sadness that I pass on that we have lost one of our own. Tim (Timmer) Fennell left these earthly chains last week. All of us at Dusty's are without words. Tim was not only a great friend and a superb guitarist but was one class dude! Pretty much everything you could want in a friend...honest, funny, uber-intelligent and a man who could take a cheap guitar and make it sing like the angels above! We love him and know that he is partying with the angels above. Gods speed my friend!!!!!!

It's a rainy Friday night in London and 2 guitar players stop for a chit-chat and more than likely, a jam session somewhere. Just hangin' out with Jimi & EC...how cool is that?
