Alumni Taylor Allen! I danced with Dunamix from age 9 to 19! The community and life-long friendships I was able to build in this environment gave me a space to freely move, worship, and grow in my technique! After high school, I was accepted into Belhaven University’s Dance Program where I studied ballet and modern while earning my degree as an honors student in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science. I performed in a variety of outreaches around the community as a company mem...ber of Belhaven’s Dance Ministry Ensemble. I also held a student leadership position as a part of DOXA within Belhaven Dance and was able to collaborate, choreograph, and perform through this platform. Alumni Natalia Mora danced at Dunamix from ages 13-18 and then went on to join Orchesis Dance Company at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she danced as a company member and intern for 2 years. I started dancing at Dunamix after watching my little sisters perform in a summer recital. As a 13 year old competitive swimmer, I had dismissed my hopes of becoming a dancer. However, I could not resist the pure joy of worship that I saw in the Dunamix dancers. Throughout my time at D...unamix, the lessons I learned and the relationships I formed stretched well beyond the dance floor. Dunamix brought me friendship and mentorship during some of my most formative years and instilled in me a passion for dance as well as people. Alumni Madisen Johnson was a featured dancer on Disney cruise line and assistant dance captain on National Tours like Annie. Dunamix was the first place that showed me how important and fulfilling it is to use my gifts and talents to glorify and thank the Lord, I will always try to implement that in any future professional gigs I am blessed with! Alumni Monica Johnson I started at Dunamix when I was 12 years old. Since that moment I knew that not only was this studio special but it was going to be my safe space. I was accepted to ABT Bermuda and Ballet Magnificat! and attended Ballet Magnificats dance intensive at 16. I debated going to dance professionally but decided to go to school instead. I was accepted to UCI and Cal State Fullerton’s programs and choose CSUF where I graduated with my BA in dance. Dunamix not only shaped me as a dancer but as a person too. I have forever friends that I can lean on for support and encouragement and to this day I reach out when I need help. Dancing with you changed me and my life and I’ll be forever grateful.

Chloe Thorpe danced at Dunamix from 2010-2018. She is a phenomenal hip hip dancer! She now attends UCLA as a human biology and society major. I think that having such a strong sense of community and a family to come to every week set my standards for fellowship quite high. Also, Dunamix taught me a lot about positive self image, and that it isn’t selfish to see yourself with love :) Chloe, we loved every moment with you! We are so proud of you! #dunamixdanceproject

Alyssa Schoonmaker I danced with Dunamix from ages 13-18, and though I never pursued ballet professionally, I accredit Dunamix with instilling in me a love for outreach and service. I was involved in countless outreach performances, and traveled to Ecuador on a mission trip with the company. I worked with and served so many incredible humans through dance, and decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life finding ways to serve and love people. I stayed heavily involved ...in community service even after I moved away for college, and am now an aspiring doctor with a desire to love and care for medically-underserved communities! I really am so grateful to Dunamix for teaching me to love humans as much as I do now Alyssa continued to train in ballet until she left for college, reaching level 4 through her discipline and focus, her kindness and hard work set her apart! Starting ballet at 12 years old was very difficult. Almost immediately I was told I was too heavy, too old to start, and would ultimately need to work twice as hard as the next person to go professional. The ballet world can be mean. This was pretty evidenced from the start. "I don't want to see your lunch" and "suck it in" were phrases I became familiar with. My very first instructor let me know I would have to drop weight if I wanted to dance in the next Nutcracker. After I... left this studio and went on to the next, this teacher would not even bother correcting me because I was not the "style" she preferred. She immediately let me know I was too tall to make it and to "check out Joffrey or PBT, they like tall dancers". This was pretty crushing considering I wasn't more than 15 years old at the time. After transferring to multiple locations throughout Southern California, I told my parents I was almost done with the abusive ballet world and what its instructor had brought on me. It wasn't enjoyable anymore and my confidence was at an all time low. My mom researched and discovered Dunamix. We heard the environment was friendly and welcoming. I didn't think a dance studio could hold such qualities, but after my first year at Dunamix I was in love. All the pain had been stripped off my past and Mrs. Nicole brought warmth and passion back into my dance career, something which I did not think could happen. I was never bullied for my weight or appearances. One studio undid 4 years of pain and self-hate. I was in shock as was my family. Dunamix truly saved my love for ballet! Gabby has since been offered an apprentice position with Ballet Magnificat!, Joffrey Ballet, and attended Boston Ballet and Kaatsbaan International summer intensives. Dunamix Alumni Sonia Lemos. My dance journey started when I was 10 with a single jazz class taught by Ms. Nicole in 2010. That quickly changed when she saw potential in me and soon I was dancing ballet, jazz, and contemporary 5 days a week with #Dunamix Dance Project! I attended Ballet West’s summer intensive in 2014 and in 2018 joined Ballet Magnificat’s trainee program where I moved up levels and became the captain over the Trainee two’s. Touring with the company national...ly and sharing the Gospel through dance was the best feeling ever. I’m am forever grateful for every teacher who invested in me and for the ability to dance. When asked what she likes about herself she said: When I set my mind to do something I do it, in spite how painful or difficult it is. I don’t give up. Most importantly I am rooted in what the Lord says and not what the world says. I’ve had friends that bought the worlds lies and would basically starve themselves in order to look like the acceptable ballet body as defined by the world. Even though at times I struggled with comparing myself I learned to accept the body God gave me which freed me to dance fully for Him. #ballet #temecula #dancer

We are celebrating our Dunamix Alumni this month! Jenna Voss trained at Dunamix from ages 11-17. @_nickithomas_ remember her as a young, focused dancer who was natural a natural in ballet. She attended Ballet Magnificat Summer intensive 2012 and 2016 and The Washington Ballet 2015. She was accepted to Summer Intensives with Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, ABT Alabama and California, Pittsburgh Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Washington Ballet, and Ballet Magnificat. Danced in the Ballet Magnificat Trainee Program for 2 years (2017-2019), was invited into the Ballet Magnificat Events Company, but has decided start college now. We are proud of you Jenna!!! Your dancing is so beautiful, you shine with God’s goodness!
