IRS would like to remind everyone who is rushing to their county recorder's office to prepay their property tax that unless the property tax has already been accessed by the county, the amount prepaid cannot be deducted.

DACA has officially been ended. Therefore, our firm will no longer accept new DACA clients, but those whose applications have already been filed and received by USCIS, your cases will still be adjudicated.

USCIS will temporarily suspend all premium processing for H1B applicants starting April 3rd.

With the recent proposal, EB5 immigration might increase its required investment from a minimum of $500,000 to a minimum of $1,350,000, the current proposition will likely go into effect in April of 2017

New proposed section 41 is now proposing to let small corporations (those with annual gross receipts of less than 5 million and those who did not have gross receipts for any tax year preceding the 5 year tax period ending with the current) one to apply their R & D costs to offset either their AMT or their payroll tax liability. instead of wait around for the R & D credit.

Feel obligated to remind all my clients that the IRS will never call you personally to ask for tax payment, they will communicate with you in writing and as taxpayers you have a right to challenge IRS's decisions. So whoever is calling as IRS agents asking for money is fraud!

Due to recent change in visa waiver program that resulted in deportation of tourists from visa waiver countries, Washington recently clarified on visa waiver programs--all passports from visa waiver countries must carry ePassport logo. If their passports don't have the golden ePassport logo, then they must apply for a new passport and with a new passport, the passport holder must reapply for ESTA. However, if the passport holder does not wish to reapply for a new passport and choose instead to apply for a visa at the local US embassy then no ePassport logo is required.

ICE and USCIS have reached an agreement to standardize the process for refreshing background check information for those individuals under ICE supervision for the non-detained dockets. Under the new agreement, ICE and USCIS will have to make the attempt to refresh the fingerprints of individual first before asking them to have their fingerprints taken.

USCIS issued a policy memo today to expand employment authorization to battered spouses of certain nonimmigrants. The new benefit given to battered spouses apply only to employment authorization, not green cards and it only applies to spouses who were admitted under INA section 101. Such employment authorization is first issued for up to 2 years only.
