A FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT THE APRIL 1 DEADLINE TO SUBMIT H-1B PETITIONS IS APPROACHING On April 1, 2014, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin accepting petitions for H-1B specialty occupation visas for employment beginning January 1, 2015. USCIS limits the number of petitions it will accept to 65,000 and works on a first come, first serve basis. The past several years have seen a dramatic increase in the number of petitions submitted to USCIS. ...Last year, USCIS reached the statutory cap of 65,000 within the first week of the acceptance period. This year, the cap will likely be reached within the first few days of the April 1 opening. For those whishing to file an H-1B petition, it is strongly advised that the application materials be received on April 1 to insure it falls within the 65,000 cap. Note that petitions received before April 1 will be rejected by USCIS. IT’S NOT TOO LATE It is not too late to start the process and meet the April 1 deadline but you must act now. To insure all relevant materials are collected and prepared, applications must be started no later than the first week of March. To learn more about the H-1B process and whether you qualify give us a call or email today! 619-384-9142 [email protected]

USCIS is warning people to be aware of a phone scam targeting USCIS applicants and petitioners. According to USCIS "The scammer poses as a USCIS official and requests personal information (such as Social Security number, passport number, or A-number), identifies supposed issues in the recipient’s immigration records, and asks for payment to correct these records." USCIS will never ask for personal information or payment over the phone. (this goes for all government agencies) If you receive a call like this you are encouraged to hang up immediately.
