Can you tell how excited I was to get my vaccination? Many thoughts went through my mind after the vaccine was offered. This is new; is it safe? Are we guinea pigs? Should I wait a few months to see how it goes for everyone else first? I understand vaccine hesitancy, as I hesitated myself. I spent last night reading through the Pfizer study published in the New England Journal of Medicine about how this version of the vaccine was chosen. I read the 53-page report from the F...DA, and looked through the demographic and result tables in detail to ensure I understood the study. I researched how mRNA vaccines work, and how this vaccine was developed. And then I was convinced that getting this vaccine was the right choice, and then decided that I did not want to wait a second longer to get my shot! (Especially at the testing positively rate in California continues to increase dramatically..) . . With over 37000 participants in their trials, and efficacy that could not be attributed to chance, the benefits absolutely outweigh the risks of taking this vaccine. I post these photos not to brag that I was able to get the vaccine so soon (although I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to get vaccinated so soon), but in hopes that I can also give you confidence in this vaccine. ( And if I start to grow a tail or wings as a side effect of this vaccine, I will also let you know .) I got this vaccine to try my best to protect everyone: my friends, colleagues, family, patients and myself. . . Also, getting this vaccine say my favourite children's hospital was absolutely also the right choice. I definitely don't enjoy getting shots, but these amazing nurses give shots to children too and were so skilled-- it didn't hurt at all! . . To my friends and patients-- if you have any concerns about getting vaccinated, I would be happy to talk to you about what I have read about this vaccine, why I am confident about it, and to share the documentation with you so that you don't even need to search out the original articles yourself. Stay safe! . . #wecandoit #thisisourshot #vaccinated #covid19 #prevention #vaccination #science #fauci #istandwithfauci #wehaveashot See more

I've been in the OR every day this week. I love being in the OR, doing what I love to do and helping my patients reach their goals, so it has been a great week! . . . However, at the same time, southern California's ICU capacity is now at 0%. Some hospitals are no longer even allowing cancer cases to go ahead due to lack of beds and because of reduced staffing capabilities with the recent surge in Covid-19. Recent surgical cancellations are extremely stressful fo...r cancer patients awaiting surgery, who rely on careful coordination of multiple surgeons' schedules so that we can perform combined oncology/reconstructive surgery... Please be careful and safe, by wearing masks and staying home, because our actions and our choices on a daily basis truly affect everyone. . . #fridaythoughts #plasticsurgeon #california #stayhome #wearamask #reconstructivesurgery #orangecounty #icu #covid #covid19 #thisis2020 #southerncalifornia #california #surgeon #surgeryday #surgery #hospital #cancelledplans #week #operatingroom #caringforothers #community #cancersucks #cancersurgery #cases #masks #newnormal #newnormal2020 #plasticsurgery #reminders #rebuild See more

I really can't complain about the sunshine here, nor this beautiful ocean view in between OR cases. I'm really excited as the first Covid-19 vaccines are becoming available to front line workers at my hospitals this week. Looking forward to my turn (I'm not on the front line, but I'm happy for my colleagues who will be more protected soon, and eventually it will be my turn too)! . . #plasticsurgery #plasticsurgeon #vaccinationeducation #vaccinate #vaccines #covid_19 #mondaythoughts #scrubbedin #oceanview #balboa #lunchbreak #vaccinesaresafe #pandemiclife #getvaccinated #december #orangecounty #newportbeach #palmtrees #surgeon #surgeons #ilooklikeasurgeon #womeninmedicine #womeninsurgery #inscrubs #staysafe #hospitalworkers #sunshine #oceanview #nocomplaints #positivevibes #positivity

Platelet rich plasma has many uses. Here's a quick demonstration of how we prepare it for application for skin rejuvenation or for joint injection at Rejuvenate Surgery Center! . . #education #surgeon #joints #options #arthritis #handsurgery #testtubes #centrifuge #stemcells #getready #draw #blood #rejuvenation #antiaging #growth #growthfactors #growthfactorserum #collagen #youth #fountainofyouth #southerncalifornia #orangecounty #plasticsurgery #plasticsurgeon #orthopedicsurgery #dermatology #orthopedicsurgeon #jointinjection #platelets #prp

Can you tell I'm smiling? Just saying hi from this beautiful shiny new surgery center in Irvine. . . I'm smiling because I'm so lucky that no matter where I go, I get to work with awesome anesthesiologists and scrub techs who also happen to go to these same excellent hospitals and surgery centers to provide amazing patient care, no matter where we are. .... . @sabruiz27 I'm still waiting for you to sing for us in the OR! . . #irvine #thisisreal #realpost #doctor #womeninmedicine #orday #femalesurgeons #surgtech #surgtechlife #surgeonsofinstagram #plasticsurgery #plasticsurgerynews #orangecounty #southoc #midoc #localbusiness #surgeryday #breastsurgery #breastlift #cosurgeons #anesthesia #anesthesiologist #anesthesiology #safetyfirst #patientcare #cancersurgery #cancersucks #humpday #wednesday #wednesdayvibes See more
