1908 dental school. Aren’t you glad you weren’t in existence at that period. I heard Novocain worked in half an hour. I would have had to hire entertainment, And the drill worked like a pedal style sawing machine! In the Filipino slang, pawis steering. ( sweat steering). I guess dad was hi tech with his electrical belt driven slower hand piece ... 60’s

Non odontogenic pain is a perceived toothache but actually is caused by muscle soreness. This may be aggravated by unusual stress , coupled by clenching or brux...ism, ( night grinding). At times , especially during stress, people also clench at daytime, causing muscle soreness, sometimes feeling like a toothache. See more

This is a demonstration of brushing between brackets. I’d like to discuss a disease very common in humanity.Gum disease. This short video shows what we used to call plaque coming off as the special brush brand name b****er. In addition to a minimum 2 min brushing using regular brush or motorized,it’s very important to floss, ideally twice a day. Once a day will do tremendous health maintenance. But it has to be done correctly. Remember, bacteria causing gum disease and t...ooth plus bone loss is caused by bacteria that has physical properties similar to mildew . Most of all , this culprit called biofilm is invisible . So, for people whose motivation to floss decreases because the floss looks clean, wake up. When you see your gums bleed with simple brushing and irregularly scheduled flossing, that’s the symptom of gum disease, which causes bad breath, tooth loss, elongated teeth, spaces between teeth, and predisposes one to cardiac arrest, stroke and to a lesser degree, possible Alzheimer’s. Have a happy and healthy 2018. See your dentist every 6 months. See more

Reminder my dear patients: flossing leftover food between teeth is good, BUT more importantly, we target bacterial biofilm. Biofilm, previously called bacterial plaque, IS THE MAIN TARGET , in my opinion, in home oral hygiene. It's the direct cause of gum disease, initially starting as gingivitis, characterized by bleeding, and gum swelling ( puffiness).Left unchecked, it will progress to periodontitis characterized by bone recession, tooth loss, bad breath "elongation" and migrat...ion of teeth. Not to mention it's strong relationships to ,primarily heart disease, secondarily, stroke, and to a lesser extent, Alzheimer's disease. Some patients' motivation to execute home oral care religiously may lessen if they cannot see actual food stuck between teeth. I emphasize that I am more concerned with removal of bacterial biofilm .Of course, food stuck between teeth definitely has to go, but keep the motivation high despite not seeing anything on the floss thread after each floss stroke in between teeth because it's impossible to see the real enemy, bacterial plaque. Hello one and all, I've been attending some dental webinar available on Facebook. I have been incorporating most dental revolutions I have been encountering on the web, plus the ones I get from the annual CA dental Association convention every year. I love dentistry! Dr Raffy

My patients ask me why I don't rate myself the greatest dentist they can ever have, and I would like to thank them. The reason is, I feel that I haven't reached the utmost best that I can be. I'm grateful my patients see me as a great dentist , by giving 5 stars, but I see myself as someone who can still better myself in my dental service to my fellow man .
