"We're pretty complex creatures," says Gordon. "It's important to work with the body, it's important to work with the imagination, it's important to work with more rational problem-solving side of things, it's important to express ourselves and to connect with other peopleall of those things are part of a comprehensive approach to trauma healing."
When it comes to conversations around race, gender, or class, the best way to acknowledge privilege is to truly LISTEN!!!
You were never broken. Just coping. Just surviving in the ways you were shown to. We are all born whole, worthy, + complete. Healing is just discovering this truth. Tag someone who’s on the journeylet them know you see them #selfhealers

I used to feel like such a phony if chanting was encouraged in a yoga class. Like I was stepping over a cultural boundary and trying to force a connection with something that didn’t belong to me. I used to cringe seeing white women lead a group of other white women in these traditional practices (myself included). That opinion has evolved for me over the years as I’ve worked to see my own resistance to self regulation, amongst many other things. I love to see this article on a mainstream mental health site, showing us the genius of these practices for our wellbeing. Simple, toning, regulating, shareable, centering goodness. Please read!
