Pregnancy series What should you take apart from prenatal vitamins? If you are trying to get pregnant you should start taking folic acid at least 3 months BEFORE you plan to get pregnant. ... Why? Folic acid reduces the risk of open tube defects. What are open tube defects? Problems with the way the brain, spinal cord or spine forms while the fetus is growing in the uterus. Why do take folic acid so early? The neural tube closes by day 28th of early pregnancy this is sometimes before some women know they are even pregnant! Folic acid dose should be 0.4 to 0.8mg daily but confirms with your ObGyn if you may need more. Any other questions? Back in the office after a busy weekend with Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day and President's day (which means no school for the kiddos) all in one weekend... Phew! I am starting a pregnancy series today to help my patients navigate through each trimester. I am starting with the first trimester. Any questions DM me and I will also post! So how do you know you are pregnant? Did you miss your period? Did you take a pregnancy test? Should you make an appointment with your docto...r? After you miss your period you can take a pregnancy test but it might not show up positive right away. This either means you may be late for your period or it is too early for the urine pregnancy test to show a positive test. Wait a couple of days and take another. Only 60% of women experience some signs of pregnancy as early as 5 to 6 weeks. These symptoms include feeling fatigue, bloated, nausea, mood swings, tender/swollen breast and peeing more than usual. Call your primary care or ObGyn to make an appointment to get blood work Questions? Concerns? Ask your ObGyn! #obdoctor #obgyn #ohbloomgyn #obstetricsandgynecology #obgyndoctor #obstetrician #obgynlife #yearoftheox #happylunarnewyear #femaleob #femaledoctor #femaledoctors #pregnant #pregnancy #prenatal #pregnancyquestions #womenob #womeninmedicine #womenshealth #pregnancytest #pregnancychanges #pregnacncyquestionsandanswers #orangecountymoms

Many of my pregnant patients have asked about the Covid-19 vaccines. We are finding out new data every day and to make things easier the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology has given guidelines to help out patients. To prevent pregnant patients from being refused the #covidvacccine this resource will help clinicians advocate for our patients. The vaccine should be available and administered to pregnant individuals who want it. Talk to your doctor about it and make s...ure you inform your doctor of your medical history including any allergic reactions.
