Good morning facebook families! You guys are all doing an amazing job at staying safe out there! One of my partners, Daniel Bruckner has created a GoFundMe account to raise funds for PPE that he is providing for doctors, nurses, and other individuals who are at risk for exposure to the Coronavirus. He has been traveling all over Southern California personally delivering the equipment he has been able to acquire. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we go through this difficult time. We're all in this together

Good morning families. We have decided to implement telemedicine as an option during this medical crisis. Our office remains committed to providing the best care for your children. The office remains open. Telemedicine is an additional option available to you. Warmly, Cathy... To our patients: March 18. 2020 Today, Balboa Pediatrics is teaming up with Kids Doctors on Call (Kids DOC), a pediatric telemedicine platform that connects patients to their pediatricians via a live video call. In keeping with the rules of social distancing, which are designed to decrease the spread of COVID-19, we feel it is necessary to find alternatives to office visits. We really believe that there is no true substitute for an in person visit with your doctor, including a physical examination, but in these unusual times, video consults will be a good option for certain medical problems. As always, we want to provide the best care to your family, so we are adding this service, which will allow us to listen to your problem, see your child on the screen, and give you the best possible medical advice, while limiting your exposure to Coronavirus. Telehealth appointments may be useful for different areas of pediatric medicine, including, but not limited to: Visual Diagnoses, Counseling, Acute Diagnoses, Pink eye, Sleep Training, Vomiting, Rashes, Breast Feeding, Diarrhea, Cuts, Behavior, Mild respiratory symptoms, Trauma, Discipline, Nutrition, ADD medication checks The addition of our new telemedicine service will not change how we handle regular phone calls during office hours, evenings and on weekends. As always, if it is medically indicated that your child come to the office or if you would just feel better to have your child seen in person by a doctor, you will, of course, be given an appointment in the office. On some occasions, telehealth will be a good choice. We will try to accommodate your preference. To get started: Download from the Apple App Store by searching Kids Doctors on Call, or for Android / computers, sign-up at https://callkidsdoc.com/clients/sign_up?code=BALBOA Sign the 2 telemedicine consent forms Fill in your child’s info using practice code: BALBOA Call our office to schedule a telehealth call Wash your hands as much as possible, keep your hands away from your face and practice social distancing. Stay healthy. Telemedicine visits will be billed in the same manner as regular office visits. Deductibles and copayments will still apply.

Good morning, Despite what the president says tests are NOT readily available. We are working on obtaining the tests. As of right now we are getting 10 kits in about a week . Also the companies have limited ability to run the tests so the more tests they get the longer it takes to get results. Right now they say anywhere between 4-12 days. I think it’s best to practice social isolation as is reasonable and avoid contact with vulnerable people ( grandparents, immunocompromised, and peoplewith underlying lung/ heart disease ). We can’t know the extent of disease here when we don’t test the population. We continue to prepare our office appropriately. I think most well visits should be postponed for now. I promise to work extra to accommodate everyone when this is over
