LED can be used as an adjunct to a variety of procedures to help speed up recovery, build collagen, and act as an anti-inflammatory.
Threads can be placed pretty quickly. In this video I place about 8 total threads in about 2 minutes or so. This patient had threads about 3-4 months ago but she wanted a little touch-up. Sometimes we need to add a few extra threads to get the ultimate result we want a few months later.
Microneedling is a great treatment to even out tone, improve complexion, fix melasma, tighten skin and pores. Watch this procedure from start to finish to see what it’s like.
People have been asking me to create a video of the recovery process of the recent control depth peel that I performed. I would like to thank my patient for allowing me to post this for educational purposes. The peeling process was about 7 to 8 days long. This peel isn’t for everyone. Patients need to rigorously prepare their skin for several weeks at the bare minimum in order to have a successful peel. I have found that this peel works very well on non-Caucasian skin to tigh...ten it and get rid of hyperpigmentation as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Caucasians may do better with straight carbon dioxide laser. This is why it is critical to see an experienced dermatologist who understands how different skin types will react to different procedures. I routinely turn down people for this procedure if I do not believe they are a good candidate for it. Some people will benefit from carbon dioxide laser much more than this and vice versa. A chemical peel is a much more difficult procedure to perform and learn compared to laser. A lot can go wrong in a chemical peel if it’s not done correctly. Experience is key. The devil is in the details. See more
There aren’t many devices that have stood the test of time in cosmetic dermatology. Many devices come and go. When they come- everyone is writing about them- the magazines, bloggers, and influencers. Then everyone realizes they don’t actually work and that particular device fades into obscurity. The carbon dioxide laser HAS stops the test of time. Nothing can resurface the skin the way a carbon dioxide laser can. This technology has been improved upon but it largely remains the same...why? Because it works. It works very well. Few things, if any, can beat its results. Here I just finished a medium depth chemical peel and I am starting my skin resurfacing with the CO2 laser. I use this technique for general rejuvenation, treating texture damage as well as scarring.
Thread insertion. This higher vector for threadlifting will ensure maximum pulling of the jowl. Threads are a very natural way to create lift and rebalance the face. They are a great option to improve jowls, tighten the jawline, and give the face contour.
Here we are doing lip threads to provide the lip outline with contour, more definition, and a pout. Not everyone needs or benefits from lip fillers. This procedure can also be done in combination with lip fillers. Over time, the thread which is made of PDO will produce a collagen bridge where it was inserted. This will subtly raise the lip over time. What results is natural and doesn’t look overdone. Giant lips are out and they’ve been out for sometime. I don’t ever do giant lips in my practice. Beauty is all about being yourself and refining your natural look.
The controlled depth peel is the safest way to perform a chemical peel. Here I am doing a medium depth peel for hyperpigmentation and to create tightness. While I am a huge fan of CO2 laser, it isn’t for everyone. I’ve spend a long part of my career mastering how to do the chemical peel. I’ve also devoted a considerable amount of thought to the anesthetic requirements patients have during such a peel. Formerly, I used to perform these with IV sedation but now I’ve moved toward oral sedation and carefully placed nerve blocks. I want to thank my patient sincerely for allowing us to post her procedure and her healing progress.
Nobody likes big pores. There are a lot of options for pores- some better than others but none permanent. Here we are doing a medium depth TCA peel to shrink the pores and improve some acne scars.
Nobody likes necklines but what options do we have? I’ll lay a few out...Botox, fillers, collagen builders, RF needling, and monofilament threads (which is what I’m doing here). Neck lines are very very hard to treat so I recommend addressing them early. As always, combination treatment is your best bet.
This is a challenging case. This young man has extensive acne scarring and very thick skin. We are going to use a combination approach of subcision and CO2 laser to assist with making the scars look better. The scar revision process after the procedure will take several weeks to months as collagen will build within these old scars and make him look a lot better. Several of these procedures will be necessary to get him to a very good place in terms of fixing this extensive amo...unt of scarring. I would like to comment on videos that are posted on Instagram that show the scars being fixed immediately after a procedure. This is incorrect and is deceptive. Immediately after carbon dioxide laser the skin is very swollen. The temporary swelling immediately after the procedure makes the scars look like they aren’t even there. This is very deceptive to someone watching a video or looking at an immediate before and after. Once the swelling comes down the scars will be there. The physiology of the skin requires that such a procedure be performed several times in order to obtain a satisfactory result. Please don’t be fooled by deceptive marketing that shows an immediate postoperative picture with a patient with no scars and a swollen face. See more
This patient is not a very good candidate for a thread lift procedure due to skin laxity and her age. She would be better served with a traditional facelift. However, she has had reactions to general anesthesia in the past and does not want any type of surgery. Thus, we opted for a modified thread lift procedure. I explained to her that given her anatomy we would shoot for simply modest improvement. Watch the HD procedure video here and see how she does.
More and more younger people have accumulating significant sun damage at an early age. I’m seeing patients who have a level of sun damage 10-15 years more in their Amin than their stated age. This manifests as pigmentation? Uneven tone, fines lines and wrinkles and yes I am seeing pre-cancers in the 25-40 Caucasian patient both male and female. Unhealthy sun-damaged skin is a high risk for skin cancer. The earlier you address it the better. Here I am using an ablative laser plus chemical peel to remove the damage.
The goal with collagen builder injections into the buttocks isn’t so much as to create size but to create the effect of tightness, shape, reduces dimples and cellulite, as well as promoting a lift. We have many different options from injecting collagen builders to injecting synthetic fat matrix. The devil is in the details.
Here I am using CO2 laser to tighten skin, eliminate early sun damage, and correct acne scars in this young woman. I often combine this procedure with subcision, fillers, collagen builders, and RF for a 360 degree approach to rejuvenation and scar revision.
People often ask me what is a great preventative way to keep the neck looking you ? I like to use a combination cocktail of PRP, collagen builders, and Botox for this purpose. I prefer patients don’t wait until they have wrinkles and sun damaged skin here. A good starting point is combing the above with a good neck serum.
We all have to do our part to get life back to normal and the easiest thing to do is to wear a mask. There are no politics when it comes to health. As human beings we all have the same basic needs regardless of our individual differences. The only way we will overcome is if we work together and not against each other.
There are several ways to do threads and some are more invasive than others. This is a threads procedure with temporal fixation- meaning we anchor the thread on the fascia of the temporal bone. It’s a bit more involved than traditional threads and this particular technique is most popular in Korea. As an alternative to this more invasive approach, one can simple insert more basic threads to achieve a comparable lift.
Just finished a TCA peel here and now adding the laser on top. Combination procedures are the best way to address complicated medical conditions that often don’t have a very simple solution. I often combine TCA peels with CO2 or RF with CO2 for maximal effect.
What gives you better results around the eyes in terms of tightening tissue and wrinkles...plasma or CO2 laser? If I was to pick- I would say CO2 laser. The laser is a bit more involved though. I need to put in anesthetic drops, then corneal shields with antibiotic gel. The laser is much more precise though AND much more safer. But for a quick procedure and in the right hands plasma isn’t a bad option. I only use plasma now pretty much around localized areas of the face. You might see many pics and videos on IG where it is done all over the face or neck- this is not recommended. Plasma doesn’t give you the control that fractional C02 ablative laser does so I use it in areas that heal very well and very rapidly such as the upper eyelids.
Create the size where you want it. Squats and leg presses are great exercises but there is large genetic component to building muscle. That’s why all of us can’t be bodybuilders. For those women who are great shape but want that extra boost, we are able to create projection where we want it. This can be done with collagen boosters or artificial fat. The options are endless.
I see a lot of doctors randomly injecting PRP into the scalp without a clear understanding of what kind of hair loss they are treating. Hair loss is a medical diagnosis that requires further investigation. There are several different types of hair loss and PRP isn’t effective in every kind of hair loss. A diagnosis must be made, labs obtained and evaluated, and in some cases a biopsy of the scalp is conducted. PRP when used for the right kind of hair loss will work in about 60-70% of cases. It is best used with a combination of other oral and topical therapies for maximum hair growth.
