We are here for your complete eye needs.

Dr. Penelope S. Suter, O.D., F.C.O.V.D. 21.10.2020

Dear Patients: We specialize in pediatrics, vision therapy for children with reading or academic difficulties, children and adults with eye teaming problems that cause double vision, visual fatigue, or eyestrain, special needs children, infants, eyeturns, and post brain-injury vision rehabilitation. Dr. Suter takes the time necessary to meet the needs of each one of her patients, including you. The wait can often be a half hour to see Dr. Suter. However, since mid 2018, we ha...ve been unable to find a suitable associate to help with this specialty practice. Dr. Suter is doing her best to take care of 2 Dr’s worth of patients with half the staff. Needless to say, we are struggling during this reorganization, and wait times have grown. We are trying to prioritize those patients who need OUR specialty services, as opposed to the services of a competent, compassionate general optometry doctor in another practice. If you have been with us for your general examinations for a long time and feel that Dr. Suter is worth waiting for, then please bear with us while we sort it out. If you would like a referral to another general optometrist who we know will take good care of you, please call or message for a referral. See more

Vision problems often undetected, uncorrected in younger kids By: Misti Crane Published on October 09, 2017 COLUMBUS, Ohio Farsighted preschoolers and kindergartners have a harder time paying attention and that could put them at risk of slipping behind in school, a new study suggests. An estimated 4 to 14 percent of preschoolers have moderate farsightedness, or hyperopia, but it often goes undetected in younger children. Published on Jun 30, 2014 by COVD As children get ready to go back to school, parents are going through their checklists to make sure everything is taken care of so their children are fully prepared for school. However, most checklists are missing something that could make the difference between success and failure. Watch this video to find out what it is. https://www.drsutervision.com/back-school-missing-something/

Story and photos by Mark Nessia Jul 29, 2017 from Bakersfield Life McKenzie Neufeld, 6, is all smiles as she works on an exercise with red-green filters on her glasses during vision therapy. Clear vision doesn’t necessarily mean healthy eyes. It’s a common misconception regarding visual health and something that goes beyond a basic eye exam. With the visual system heavily linked to motor movements, eye health plays a bigger role in everyday life than most people realize. Oftentimes we get asked "Can my child wear contact lenses? Are they old enough? Is it safe?" The answer to this question is very dependent on your child. Contact lenses can offer a variety of benefits and there is no particular age limit. Successful contact lens wear and care depends more on the level of responsibility and attitude of your child rather than his or her age.
