UPDATE: Coronavirus Can Spread Through The Eyes And May Cause Conjunctivitis In Some Patients, Experts The new Coronavirus can spread through the eyes and may cause pink eye, or conjunctivitis...in about 1-3% of infected people. The article says that viral conjunctivitis is most commonly caused by contagious viruses associated with the common cold, according to the American Optometric Association. One should be cautious about automatically assuming they have the Coronav...irus if they have an irritated, uncomfortable watery red eye. There are common causes for such symptoms and you should not assume you have the Coronavirus if you experience these symptoms. A visit to your local physician who can provide special testing would be the best option. You should evaluate if you have any of the following symptoms as well. The most common symptoms of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. More rarely, the disease can be serious and even fatal. Older people, and people with other medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), may be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill. People may experience: cough, fever, tiredness, difficulty breathing (severe cases).

AOA President Says Blue Light Glasses May Be Beneficial For People Who Look At Screens A Lot TODAY Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (2/12, Johnston) reports Barbara L. Horn, OD, president of the AOA, told TODAY that blue light glasses could be beneficial for those who spend the majority of their day in front of a screen. Dr. Horn said, For some, blue light filtering glasses can be a great way to counter the eye strain and sleep disruption that come with excessive screen time. Doctors of optometry also encourage people to follow the 20-20-20 rule. While there is not a standardized number of hours adults should limit their screen time to, people who spend two or more continuous hours at a computer or using a digital screen device every day are at a greater risk of experiencing eye strain.
